A Fun Thanksgiving Tradition

After all the turkey eating and dish washing, our family settles down to a Thanksgiving tradition of watching a movie. Every year we watch the movie "A Christmas Story". It is a funny sweet movie about a little boy who wants a Red Rider Bee-Bee Gun for Christmas. It is set in the 40s (I think) and is a picture of a simpler way of life for the Holiday season than we are used to. It is hilarious and safe for the whole family to watch. If you have never seen this movie you have to rent it. We still love it after all these years and it puts you right into the Christmas spirit.

This is one of our favorite Christmas movies. We call it the BB Gun Movie. J and I will watch this movie over and over. It absolutely depicts what life was like when we were growing up. The kids and their wool coats and stocking caps and all that snow, the tree trimming and the meals in the kitchen, the school and everything else! It brings back happy memories of growing up in the 1940's and 1950's.

This is one of my favorite Christmas movies as well! I saw it years ago when it came out in the 1980s, I think. It was actually a really low-budget movie and they had NO idea how much of a cult classic it would become. After that, I made sure to watch it every year when it came on TV. A few years ago I finally bought it on DVD!
