All the Men in My Life

My husband has one passion in life, well besides me, and it is collecting, painting and displaying toy soldiers. He is more than a history buff. He is a walking set of encyclopedias. He has collected and painted soldiers since we met and now I live with over a thousand little men all OVER my house. It is a huge stress reliever for him and something he enjoys so I have generously given up wall space and display space for this man and his men.

All types of wars are represented. The bad guys and the good guys.

American history...

See the precious wall space. I have even given up the cabinet that I used to display all my crystal in since it had such nice lighting for him to display in. I am not a crystal kind of gal and just put it up in the cupboard and bring it out for parties.

Ancient history...

Foreign wars....

This is just a smidgen of his collection but I didn't want to bore you to death. People do come to our house and find it fascinating to look through all the detail he puts into the scenes.

Our son does War hammer - the hours he is kept busy painting away
He too finds it relaxing & I have heard of men finding it their wind down after work.
I love your dh's scenes - now does he do the dusting???

Your husband is cool! My hubbie loves history, too. Other than The Bachelor (seriously...his one guilty pleasure), he watches The History Channel all the time!!!

I just happened to be blog hopping while on my vacation and came across your thumbnail. Anyway, this morning I was reading the Arkansas Democrat Gazette and there was this interesting article on miniature-maker Fletcher Clement. I would guess your husband may know of this person...really quite incredible to me how something so intricate can be made so small! Fascinating and wonderful that your husband has a hobby that is so enjoyable.

Oh, I don't find it boring at all! I love history and grew up with a history buff - my dad. He was in the military and has his own ever-growing collection. ;)

Thanks for linking to the party. I enjoy your company at the event!
