Snuggling In

I did it. I generously gave the crud I had the last two weeks to my kids. Three of the four are now sick but what is the hardest is the two year old being stricken. Poor thing. I am sorry. We have been home for three days straight now so I have tried to use the time to get some good old cleaning done. Scrubbing fixtures in the kitchen and dusting hidden spots. Just more spring sprucing. I love the satisfaction a clean home gives. I don't always have it, but when I do, I gain a sense of calm. A sink of sudsy hot water is a simple pleasure to me. Sick I know. I think it comes from my childhood. Raised with no dishwasher, we hand washed our dishes and that often fell to me.
Glamorous.
I didn't used to be so happy to do my chores when I was a young wife. I used to resent it at times but I heard some good advice once about looking at it as a gift to your family. A privilege to take care of them. Dishes in the sink meant you had food for a meal. Doing laundry meant you had a family to care for, unloading groceries meant you had money to go to the store. Things to be thankful for and not resentful of. Very true and as I reminded myself of this, over time my mindset changed.

More spring decorating. Have to mix in some fun house chores too.

My little rusty bird bath brought in from the back yard.

I love stools. Stacked or otherwise. They are great for display.

So sorry about the sickness! Hope everyone is better real soon.
I too love doing dishes. I grew up, one of 6 kids, and we worked together to get the dishes done. There were a few suds and water fights too :)
Good memories.
Have a happy day :)

Your spring sprucing is beautiful! Hopefully everyone will be on the mend soon. That was wonderful advice you gave. I will tell myself that the next time I do my "chores". Thanks for putting it in perspective. :)

I love doing dishes too! I put alot in the dishwasher but hand wash the pots and good stuff. I really enjoy laundry too!
I hope you all get better. I was reading up on the fruit of pommegrante and it is the best drink or fruit to give your kids to make them well again!!! Better than any vitamin. This fruit is amazing ...google it!!

Hope everyone is on the mend quickly. My favorite "chore" is ironing.

I hope your kids get well soon. It's hard to see them sick. But you can sometimes get things done while they are on the sofa!

Sorry about the kids getting sick! I love a sink full of soapy water too! Thought I was the only one. I just washed all the glassware in my china cabinet today and it felt so good to get them all nice and clean.

I love your thinking on chores. I will keep that in mind when I am feeling otherwise! I'm in a nesting mood myself but can't do much about it until we move next month. For now I will have to make do with sorting through things and getting a little packing done.

That is a beautiful spring display. I love the stools stacked and the rolling pins. It looks very nice. I agree with the chores and the feelings attached with it. I have learned over the years that it is a form a service/love that you will not reap the joys of till you do it with a willing heart. Some people might not get that but, to explain it better it is like that story about the two young married people who give all they have to each other for Christmas. She cuts off her hair for him and he buys a comb for her hair that she cuts off. The Gift of the Magi is the name of it. They give all they have to give and in the end nothing is more important then each of them. Hope your crew gets to feeling better soon. Thanks for linking up!

Hope y'all are well soon.
I tend to think the same way about chores...I think of it as blessing my home and family.
But, I honestly must say...I have my days when I dread having to do ANY of it.
I also wash by hand - no dishwasher. But I love the feel of the water.
I like your little collections especially the rolling pins.
