Smelly Laundry?

Has anyone else ever been faced with this problem? You wash and dry your laundry and then you pull a t-shirt out of the drawer, slip it on and go, "Phew who let the dog in? And did she roll in poop?" Well, everyone in this house has. It was becoming a common problem of clothes coming out of the laundry stinky. Didn't matter if I used my homemade soap or bought soap. The result was the same. Now you can blame it on the six stinky people in our house, or the dog beds I wash weekly or my lineman's filthy work clothes, but something was causing the stink.

So where did I go? To the Internet of course and found the easiest solution. Add a little vinegar to the rinse cycle. That's it. I pour in the fabric softener bowl and it never fails. Clean smelling washer and laundry. You may smell a little vinegar in the washing machine but you do not smell vinegar in your clothing at all. Cheap and simple solution to my conundrum.

I haven't ever had that happen with my laundry? Glad the vinegar worked. That vinegar is some good stuff isn't it!!

I love this tip. I have been using homemade for about 5 years now and only recently learned this little trick myself.

you'd think your laundry would stink like vinegar..but no. It doesn't.
Which is so cool. Because vinegar is way less expensive than fabric softener.

White vinegar seems to be a miracle worker. I've recently done an empty hot wash in the washing machine with nothing but white vinegar to clean it. I'd like to find somewhere that sells catering bottles, although it's cheap to buy off the supermarket shelves for the time being. xx

it also works if your towels have stop absorbing water (too much fabric softner) it takes it all out.

Love using vinegar! I've also used it in my dishwasher instead of using spot free rinse, and it works like a charm :)
Yes... in-expensive and green living. The best !

I've been using vinegar for the past few years after a fellow soccer mom gave me the tip. It's a miracle worker. Totally gets rids of the funk of two teenage boys. I buy it at Costco...$3.59 for 2 gallons. It's in the baking aisle. Thanks for getting the word out, SSL!
