Questions for Bloggers

Lots of bloggers share their thoughts on blogging and I love to read those posts but I still have some burning questions I would love to hear other bloggers opinions on. I thought a series of posts with those questions was the perfect way for me to pick your brains. I will of course share my thoughts but I already know those. Feel free to post your comments as I am very interested in what you have to say. Love this blogging community.
Question #1 Do you feel you spend too much time blogging?
My answer to this is yes, at times I do feel like I should be doing other things. I have waffled over this often and wondered if I should quit blogging, but when I really took a look at how much time I was spending on my blog and reading other blogs, I wasn't spending any more time than I was on wasteful activities before.
My house isn't any less clean than before and meals are still being prepared as usual so what I figured out is that I had replaced TV with blogging. At night after the little one goes to bed I used to watch TV but now I am usually on my laptop.
I will admit that at times I find I am checking my blog when I need to get onto other things. That is when I have to shut it down and put it away. All the comments will be there when I check on it later in the day.
Blogging is a form of entertainment for me and I am allowed that right. I don't work it as a business as I wouldn't even begin to know how to do that. A hobby I enjoy that lets me share my love of homemaking.
Tell me what you think.

Re-did my dining room table decor. That is the fun part of blogging.

My love of crocks is evident. They are everywhere.

Too much time blogging? Definately. I work from home and my children are grown and I probably spend way too much time reading other blogs. I'm not quite sure what I did before I found blogging. Anyway, I still seem to get everything else done that needs to be done. (P.S. I haven't turned on my tv since the Will/Kate wedding. Weird)

I am addicted to checking my Iphone every five minutes - but my kid and husband feel loved, even if the house isn't alway clean :)

I have a schedule for myself so that I won't spend all my time on one interest. Those blogs will still be there waiting for me!

I have been blogging for over three years. They have been three of the happiest years of my life. Do I spend too much time on it? Probably for sure. Does it really matter in the big scheme of things? Likely no. My children are grown. I have a lot of free time to myself. I rarely watch tv, and I think that can be almost mindless entertainment. It has made me be more creative, and that was always a positive outlet I had. My major in college was journalism, so I think this is just a continuation of the love of words (and now photography) that I have. A positive and rewarding hobby! Hey, and it's cheap!

I so agree with you. Yes, I spend too much time. I enjoy blogging and will continue to. Just wish I could figure out how to loose weight doing it, just kidding.

I am in complete agreement with you. What blogging has done in my life is take over other pursuits that were not nearly as satisfying to me, TV being one of them.

As long as I can get my work done and am not hibernating at home glued to a computer, I figure I'm okay!

I do like a few things on the telly, but I am not a tv addict. So I think the blog time is a trade. Plus, my grandson likes his programs, and I can sit with him, and blog surf. I am a high energy person, with a lot of interests. I find that there simply are not enough hours in the day to fit it all in, but for sure blogging holds a high priority with me.

Hello,

Well, I blog for both reasons, personal and business.
But I organize myself with the posts.
I also visit blogs and love to read them like yours.
That goes with my beloved Blackberry.

And speaking of questions...When are you visiting?

Ah, yes, I think I spend too much time blogging. But I do agree with you - I think it's replaced my TV time. Love your table decor. Perhaps you'd like to link this post to Seasonal Sundays for Mother's Day.

I appreciate your comment on my Royal Wedding Breakfast Part I and thought you might like to know that Part II is up now.

I'm guilty of spending too much time blogging, as well. Like you, I enjoy it...like a hobby. For me, it gives my brain an extra exercise. I need to keep the ole noodle sharpened, don't I? Just as long as you're having a good time while not totally neglecting all other aspects of your life, then I'd say keep on blogging.

Your table decor is so pretty!
To answer your question, yes. I wonder if anyone will answer no. We are all pros at carrying around guilt. Of course, blogging can get in the way of responsibilities without good planning. I'm learning to set time limits, which hasn't been easy but my furniture was getting dusty and the kids needed to eat. haha I think most people agree, we'd be doing something else if we weren't blogging.

Your table setting is beautiful..it is not a waste of time to visit and see this loveliness...I don't watch any tv...no quality...but I can find it blogging and visiting, learning and sharing..it gives back my investment of time..and I enjoy it so much. I get done what needs to be, and the blogs are there anytime I choose to read, or comment...it is the perfect compliment to my simpleness routine.....

Since I'm very new to blogging I find I'm on the computer a little longer than I'd like to be! I wander around various sites admiring photos, artwork, ideas and suddenly time has flown by! I try to go on in the morning and then concentrate on my creative endeavors the rest of the day-watercolors, jewelry, accessories. I admit, I do jump back on periodically! Of course, I should be doing laundry, etc. too. Some days my teens search for socks, an ironed shirt and wonder what's going on!

How charming; I really like the canisters, patterns and colours of your artfully composed vignette!

I have been increasingly aware that the time spent blogging, is so fulfilling, even when I worry thah I'm taking up too much time doing so.

For me personally it had been so richly rewarding relationally and in terms of stretching my creative capacites, as well as causing me to look throught the 'fresh eyes' of fellow bloggers. Lastly, causing me to be much more consistent, patient, empethetic, passionate about creative expression and even also focussing on caring. .., I love this, at times, 'bittersweet' experience that blogging has afforded me!

Please also accept my warmest invitation to pop by for some cyber 'tea and treats' sometime soon..,

I also love celebrating all things afternoon tea and tea related tea each Tuesday at two of my blogs, whereby I/we host two weekly blog parties entitled, 'Teapot And Tea Things Tuesday' that I share with my friend Pam and also my 82nd, 'Tuesday Tea For Two', coming up this next Tuesday..,

YOU ARE MOST WELCOME TO JOIN THE FUN!

Ask my kids and they would say yes. I am accumulating a lot of stuff. I don't watch T.V. don't travel. The cost of gas keeps me from driving much. What's a creative person to do but to have fun meeting new people and learning new skills. There said and done.

I just starting blogging a few months ago, actually 6 months (where does the time go?). I resisted because I thought I didn't have time. Now I'm so glad I did it because I feel more creative, and connected to others with the same interests. During TV time, I'll stop blogging and ask my husband what is going on on our show. Makes him mad, I wonder why!

Love your table top. I do spend to much time blogging and I am trying to keep it in check. I post 2 times a week. I have met the nicest people and would not give blogging up. What it has really done for me is to be more aware of my surroundings. Because I take a lot of pictures I am more intune with the seasons and what I am cooking, what I buy etc. it has also made my husband more aware. We stop on the side of the road to take pictures and he will point out something that is blog worthy. I do try to shut my computer down when there is something that needs my attention. Thank goodness I only have a very basic phone or that would be a problem. Great question

I honestly don't feel like I spend enough time. I love writing and blogging. I am gaining some momentum and success and think if I spent more time I could take it even further. Now, how to add more hours to the day...

Maybe I spend too much time blogging but I blog in small blocks of time after I have worked in the garden for hours on end or cleaned house. I also take 4-5 days off frequently just to keep a good balance and spend time with Joe. I find my readers have so much in common with me that I feel them to be really good friends and I do miss them when I am away for a while. I also watch very little tv but I still read one to two novels a week. I will not give up reading no matter what. I love this questions series. ♥O

No , I don't spend too much time blogging, because I feel blogging is a great resource for my craft and re-sell business. I am a Realtor and that business is real scarce now, but heck things have got to take a turn for the better son! hugs, Diane

yes and no. I think it depends on my mood. sometimes I just like to stay away from the computer. one always needs a walk now and then, not only to refresh the eyes but the mind as well.

the good thing about blogging is that you can stop anytime, though some of us, like me, will need pliers to get me to stop from blogging.

have a sweet day.

Yes. Not so much the writing, but also trying check all the blogs I follow and answer any questions that are left in my comments.

I used to be able to manage it all, but more and more I find my self behind on emails.

I haven't considered quitting, but I have thought about making some changes. Time will tell.

Your dining room looks great. Yes, I am spending way too much time blogging, but it has been a learning experience. It has taken a lot of time for me to learn the ropes, and I still have lots of questions. I am glad you are posting these questions! What I think I need to do is limit the number of linky parties. They are the most time consuming!

For me blogging is both a discipline and a creative outlet, and, yes, it does take time. I would like to spend more time reading other blogs, but that would really keep me from getting things done so I limit myself to a few each day and not always the same ones. I enjoy the variety and appreciate the effort that writers put into their blogs.

I love to read so if I wasn't spending time on the internet blog hopping I'd have my nose in a book. It's a fun trade off. I write on my own blog in spurts. I'm really much more of a reader than talker.

Yes i do blog alot! But having said that i moved to another province last year...3,000 miles away from home and i have no family or friends here. Blogging keeps me sane and helps with the homesickness. It also allows me to share my passion for design and meet amazing kindred souls. I don't watch television...very very little ..while the family watches i sit with them but with my laptop.
I love all the bloggers i have met. It has opened my world in a great way!!!

I was spending too much time blogging. Now I have a set schedule. I spend no more than 1-2 hours on the computer per day whether it be blogging, on e-mails, or research. It is working well.

My house is always clean so that was not an issue nor is DH neglected. But being so sedentary for a long period of time was not healthy. Now I even take breaks during that hour. I will do 10 minutes and get up and do something else. I break it up.

I also was stressed trying to post every day. Now I don't do that unless it fits and I don't stress over it.

Love your vignettes. They are so charming.

I agree with the comments of many others. I blog instead of doing things I was getting bored with anyway. I especially love memes like this and the one I do on Saturday. It's fascinating to me to see how people all start from the same point and go different directions.

Thanks for a thoughtful and beautiful link this week to Alphabe-Thursday!

A+

I have blogged on and off for 7 years now - the off always coming when I feel like I am spending TOO much time online. It's so much more important to LIVE the lives we are blogging about than BLOG the lives we want to live!!

I admit I am addicted to blogs, and sometimes hubby is pretty tired of waiting for stuff to get done...but it is cheaper than hiring a shrink
right?

Hi, love your new vignette. Also love the question and all of the responses. I blog for fun, and yes, sometimes I spend a little too much time blogging (reading others) and have to back away for a while. Home life comes first, and cannot be neglected, but blogging is a way to get away for a while.

I'm guilty of spending way too much time on my blog and playing online games. I've only been blogging for little over a year and really enjoy looking at other people's homes. I like to share what I'm up to also. I was just looking at pictures from this last year to create a blogaversary mosaic. I'll probably post it next week since Mosaic Monday is today. Katharine
