With a Cherry On Top

Vintage red and blue kitchen decor.
With an eye towards summer, I redecorated my shelf in the kitchen. I wanted to use my more vintage items as we are taking the kitchen back to a more retro look.

vintage decor, cherries, kitchen, vintage cracker tin

My Little Chef oven was perfect for the shelf. The old sifter was in this house when we bought it.

Happy and cheery. I love the new look and will add some flags or something patriotic for the summer holidays.

The cherries were a gift from one of my daughter's for Mother's Day. I adore them.

Gathered some polka dots for the new look.

We are trying to decide on a new paint color. Do you know this kitchen was originally aqua?

These are some of the inspirational photos I have gathered.

I love this kitchen from Kitchenisms. Of course my cabinets will remain white but I love the black and white curtains.
I love this little red cart. I wish I could find one.

Here are the curtains I have ordered. Country Curtains, hens and chicks. On sale for $9. I lucked out.

  4. You did a great job! Very pretty and colorful!
I just sold an old cart just like that, but it was a mustard yellow!:-( It could have been painted. Check Goodwill and antique stores...I'm sure you can find one. It would be perfect for your decor!

  19. I just found your blog and will be stopping by often...

Your shelf looks so nice - I LOVE the little stove!

The kitchen you like looks like mine, now that I've redone it -- turquoise walls, black & white tile floor and red accents (including a red formica table). Love that turquoise & red!

    GOING FOR THE RED

“If forced to make choices,” she said,
“I’d go for the crimson and red.
    I’d let go of green,
    (Some think it’s obscene),
    Embracing magenta instead.”

  31. It will look so good when you are all done. The inspiration pictures are great. Our 1956 bungalow had some wild colours under the wallpaper too. They were fearless when it came to colour back then. We still have the original metal cabinets, but they need some major restoration.

  36. I LOVE this kitchen! I love the aqua color with the red - that is going to be so fabulous! i have a friend who took out her aqua colored appliances from her "old" kitchen and put in shiny new appliances and I wanted her old appliances so badly, but my hubby was not going for it :) They would have looked amazing in your cute kitchen though! i am dying to remodel my kitchen but i don't think it will happen any time soon so i will just have to drool over yours :) I am a new follower sent over by Stacy and Not Just a Housewife - isn't she fun?

  51. Ahah! The cherries at last! I just LOVE those! I thought that they were metal when I saw them in your header. They are truly the Cherries on the top! :)

I like your aqua idea. I find that more and more I am drawn to Tiffany blue. The ceiling of my grandmother's front porch was that color and it was always so nice on that porch.
