Decluttering the Kitchen

Declutter and organize the kitchen.
I have really been in a paring down, thinning out, simplifying mood lately. Well for about six months now. I really try not to buy anything we don't need (except home decor cuties but I have cut way back on that too).

Funny how when you clean out your drawers you discover things you forgot you had and that you often have  multiples of. With the heat I have been cleaning out the drawers and getting rid of anything I don't use any longer. Ruthlessness I tell you is the key to organizing and simplifying.

Just a few of my pared down supplies all easy at hand when I need them. I can see what is in each drawer and grab what I need quickly. Funky and nothing matches but I am not spending money on matched organizers just using what I already have.

The pyrex was all my mother's. Love it all stacked and ready for use.

  1. I've been working on the same thing at home. Once I get out of the hospital, I'm going to get back to it as soon as possible. I love it when my house is de-cluttered!

  5. I'm getting ready to do this as well. My daughter is moving closer to me soon and I'm loading up the wagon and giving her an early inheritance!
Not nearly as pretty as the pink pyrex you inherited!

  6. You would not believe the amount of stuff I have in my kitchen drawers! I am a gadget gal, and since I love to cook, I love gadgets too. I simply could not do away with these things!!! Try as I might to pare down in there, I fall short! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your pink pyrex. I only have a few little ones!!!

  7. That pink pyrex is always a favorite. Me too, been trying to organize and sort out stuff to donate. Hard to let go of things--but, feels good to downsize the clutter. Have a great week.

  8. I need to do this in drawers, cabinets, and closets! I admire an organized person, something that I am not!

  9. Ah now, you see the problem I would have is that I love clearing out drawers and finding things I'd forgotten about. So being organised would rid me of that pleasure. Not that it would take very long for an organised drawer to become cluttered again...perhaps I'll give it a go. xx

  10. I love when I see things organized but I am not so good at it. I can get there but it doesn't stay that way.

  11. Funny to read this because the kitchen cabinets are my next battlefield in the attack plan around here. I tend to overstock them. Thanks for the inspiration. I am enjoying this blog!

  20. Isn't a decluttered kitchen so much easier to work in? I find that if I straighten up the cupbopards and drawers and pitch anything I am not really using every 3 months, it is such a sdavings of time for me. You did a great job.

  22. Hi Elaine,
I am a 'clutter collector' and I love nothing more than a good clean-out of my cupboards and drawers.
My pleasure in collecting is balanced by my desire for organisation..... so I collect then when my space has reached 'Full'.... I donate to the charity shops ......and Start all over again....... Works for me

    God Bless

  23. Thank you for linking this up to LACE today.
I LOVE your pretty pink Pyrex dishes!!
You did a great job of de-cluttering - the drawers look so tidy and easy to access.
I really need to take a leaf from your book and do the same.
My kitchen utensil drawer has got way out of control!
I really don't need to keep all those fiddly tiny plastic bread clips :-(
    Thanks for the inspiration, Elaine.
    God bless..Trish

  24. Oh I do love that pyrex. I recently got one of my mother's, too. I love the word ruthless. It's true -- gotta have it to pair down. I need more of it.
