Rushing Things

I have to admit I am not a summer gal. Once you get past the Fourth of July I see no reason to continue with summer. I wilt in the heat. Love the fun of summer but not the temps.

My kids of course love the out doors and carefree summer fun.

But it is time to take the flags down until next year.

I know I am rushing things, but I am already thinking of Fall. My most FAVORITE time of year.
I will hold off as it is way to early to drag these puppies out, but I am dreaming of the cooler weather and my favorite shop's Autumn open house in August. I don't need anymore Fall decor in this house, but I can't help myself. I have to pick up something each year.

  1. Elaine you are so not alone in this. I love the Fall - my favorite time of year. And by mid-August, I'm anxious to pull out the decor. Around here, the kiddos don't go back to school until after Labor Day, so I think they would kill me if I tried to. The heat is unbearable today, but thankfully not as bad as last Summer. It was a constant heat wave. I love the cooler temps too.
    Have a wonderful day!
    xoxo,
    Kim

  2. I am right there with you!! I would like the summer more if we had access to a pool, or an ocean. :o) I miss Northern California, more and more with each passing year I am away. :o)
    I love fall as well and even starting to love winter more. :o)
    Try and keep cool!
    Sincerely, Trish

  3. I feel you're pain!! I am not a summer time girl either. It was 116 yesterday and today 112! Fall is my favorite time also and I can't wait to see you're fall decor! At least we have that to look forward to.

  6. All I can say is please stop me if you see me buying another pumpkin in any shape or size at the store :) I love autumn and eagerly look forward to decorating for it both inside and out.

  8. Fall is my favorite too, but I really try not to rush it. Because fast on Fall's tail is shhhh "you know what!" and I feel like I just packed all of that away last week!!

  9. I guess I'm in the minority! I love summer and I spend the rest of the year waiting for it.
    It is easier to love since we got a pool and we got to Lake Michigan as often as we can. So don't rush fall! :)

  10. I love the cute little blue & white polka dot creamer! I am just the opposite! I love summer and would love for it to last much longer. I like fall but I despise what comes after! I would be quite happy to skip winter!

  11. I love Fall, but could take Summer year round. The older I get, the more I despise WINTER! Ugh, it's the season that never ends. I've been thinking, I should have never left CA!

  12. Hi Elaine. I am right there with you! I do love summer, and carefree days, with no commitments and all. But the older I get, the less tolerance I have for the heat. It gets mighty hot in these parts!!! I do have the pool though and I try to swim every day. I, like you, ADORE fall, and everything about it. I wish we had more of it here, but I stretch it out as long as I possibly can, and am always sad to take it down for Christmas decor. Christmas being my least favorite of the holidays. Terrible, huh? Wish you lived closer to me!!!
    Stay cool.

  13. Oh Elaine, I mirror your thoughts about after the 4th! Glad I am not the only one! Last night just before going to bed I went outside for a minute...dreaming of Fall and a harvest moon...my favorite time of the year! We still have lots of pool days left with the grandchildren. I won't rush it for their sake only! LOL! Can't wait to see your Fall decor!

    Hugs,
    Maryjane

  16. Nooooooooo, don't put the flags away! Ok, put them away. It is YOUR house, after all! I don't want summer to be over, but I do love Fall alot. The colors and the smells and the cooler temps. It's just what comes after Fall that bothers me, I guess!
    Happy REDnesday,
    Carol

  17. As hot as it is summer has not been as much fun as usual! Still I'm not ready to put the flags away or the flip flops! Fall will be here before we know it.

  18. Okay, lady, don't push it! LOL! I hate the dog days, too and Fall is probably my favorite season weather-wise, but I've learned to take each season for what it is - "to everything there is a season"!

  19. Fall is my favorite time of the year too. It helps me to get thru the rest of summer, because I'm starting to create all my goodies for my Fall craft show. So even though it is hot outside, I get to see Fall stuff.

  20. Time is going much to fast as it is, so please do not make it worse.

  21. I'm the same way, just not a summer person. I love to decorate in the Fall. I have several totes to prove it too! LOL!

  22. Maybe if you keep thinking fall, it will find its way here sooner. (Well, we can hope, can't we?)

    GIVE ME RED RIBBON

    Give me red ribbon to tie in my hair,
    Not yellow or purple or green;
    But burgundy, chestnut, carmine or rose—
    These are the colors with sheen!

    Give me red ribbon to tie in my hair,
    Not saffron or opal or blue;
    But fuchsia, magenta, ruby or blush—
    Something of sanguinous hue!

    Give me red ribbon to tie in my hair,
    Not indigo, azure or grey;
    But scarlet, vermilion, dahlia or pink—
    Colors like these make my day!

  23. Considering it looks like I may only have 6 weeks of summer this year, if I'm lucky, I'll take all of it I can get!!
    We do have beautiful long falls here in Northern Ontario. And winters and springs.
    OK, I love all of the seasons.
    They each bring their own gifts!!

  24. I am really tired of the 100 degree days, but no, I am not ready for Fall. I wasn't done with Spring yet and away it went too soon.
    Before long I will be ready for Fall, but I don't want Winter to get here too soon.
    Your display with the picnic tin is cute!!

  25. It all comes up so fast! It'll be here before we know it! You have some darling vintage collections!

  26. I am not a summer person, either! Love the picnic basket.

  28. I am going to echo anyone else who said...I am not a summer girl either. I have been in Boston the last five days and mid 90s is better than the 100+ they endured here.
