Organized Christmas Update

Early in the summer I did a post on planning ahead for an organized Christmas. One of the things I like to accomplish ahead of the holidays is a toy thinning and organization day. Especially now that I have a little one in the house with lots of little toys everywhere. You know they will be getting new things come the holidays so I spent the day cleaning out the bedroom and toy closet. This is one thing off my list of pre-holiday chores.
Sure it will get messy again but things have been sorted and two bags of trash and two boxes of donations are outta here so that is such a good feeling. Less is more!!

This is where we store some of Q's toys. It is a funny little closet in our dining room. It is next to the den so she can get things out to play easily.

The bedroom closet cleaned and vacuumed. Clothes sorted and ready for donating and the best of all, a closet floor you can see.

This corner of the den is Q's play area. All organized and sorted. I like to take all the odds and ends like McDonald's toys and put them in a basket in the trailer for camping. They become new to her when she sees them again and if they get lost or dirty, who cares because you were going to get rid of them anyway.

Fabulous organizing!! :o)
I was just looking around our home this morning, making a mental note of what I will be cleaning when the weather shifts. I do a fall and a spring cleaning. :o)
We have a tiny little consignment store in town, that I take the children's clothes they no longer wear or out grow, so slowly getting that together too. :o)

Good job to be sorting and organizing now!! It always feels good to get rid of a few things that you don't need/use anymore. I have been working on a bit of that too, as we got both kids ready to head out to college and new job.

Hi Elaine,
Your closets look wonderful! Your little ones corner also looks organized and so sweet, she must be a happy little girl with a whole corner to herself.
Hugs, Cindy

I'm also in the process of cleaning out and sorting. Going through the whole house and deciding what needs to go to Goodwill and what I'm selling in a garage sale. It's exhausting, I'm on day 4. Help me.

Looks fabulous! I just can't keep up with you. I have wonderful memories of our daughter playing with her play kitchen. She loved it!

Oh, how I remember those days -- now that I have a grandbaby on the way I fear the toys will mount up again, lol!

Blessings!

You are so right to teach her organization now. My college girl is organized to a degree but drives me batty when I see her dorm.

A closet floor you can actually see? What's that all about? You have way more energy than me, that's for sure. We are off to see The Help friday evening if you want to join us? Patty

Okay, this is going to sound crazy, but I just sat down this week and planned our holiday meal (I say "holiday" because I'm not sure which holiday we'll be home and which one we'll be traveling). I have a box all set aside, so that I can buy two sets of everything that we're going to have for our meal. One set is to keep and the other to give away. Such fun!!
