Playing Around

I have this Gooseberry Patch calendar I just love in my kitchen. It has the sweetest pictures. I was standing talking on my red phone and noticed I had some things on the counter that reminded me of that picture.

Of course they weren't all collected together but it goes to show you that the simplest things make such homey decor.

I am drawn to anything old fashioned and vintage looking. To me that evokes the best feelings of a cozy home. Just as the picture in the calendar spurs cozy feelings in me when I look at it, you can just use everyday items you group together to create cozy little scenes in your home.

We had to cut down the sunflowers. I am so sad but they were falling over. These were the last of my flowers for the year. Poor Q is sick with a nasty fever. Not sure what she has come down with but I hate it when my babies don't feel well. I will be sticking around the house for the day hoping she gets over this soon.
Hubby and I were going to paint the kitchen this weekend but I don't think it will happen now. He has to work some of the weekend and he is so tired from long hot days and lots of calls out in the night he needs to rest when he gets a couple of days off. I think I will start to primer and call it good when I am tired of painting. Projects move very slowly around here as you can tell. That is okay. A lot of life has to be lived so time isn't always there to finish things when we would like.

Your sunflowers are beautiful. So nice that you had them to enjoy during the summer.
Enjoy the time with your family and your projects will wait ..... they always do :)

Hi Elaine and I'm sorry your little one is sick! Pray she's feeling better soon. I have that same calendar and it just makes me smile! I've never thought of setting up vignettes with it. You've given me some ideas! ;)
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

It's so hard when the kids get sick especially if they pass it around. I love your attitude about getting things accomplished. Living life is so much more important. Take care sweet friend, Patty

I noticed your pretty red wall phone in a previous post of yours. I too am drawn to the simple things. The word most often used when new people come to my home for a visit, is your house is so "homey." I love that! Sorry little Q is not feeling well. Does she go to pre school? Seems that as soon as school starts, they all begin to share their germs!!!! Hope she is up and at em soon! Enjoy your hubby being home!

Love the little picture-- Art imitating Life, I suppose. Some where someone must have seen your kitchen and snapped a shot of it ;)
Hope Q gets well soon. Hubby gets to rest and you get your project done.
Glad to see we're not the only ones getting our projects done slowly. {wink} ;)

I love your sweet little vignette. I also love anything with the vintage look to it, it evokes warmth, love and friendship to me.
Poor little Q, I hope you recovers really soon, for her own sake and yours.

Poor Q! I am still worried about Shanley. She had to go back to the doctor and get shots!

This is a cute post, Elaine!

I hope your little one feels better soon, and it doesn't spread to anyone else. It's so hard to be sick in the summer. My hubby has had his fill of hot weather too. A few more weeks and it should cool off pretty well though :)
