We love baked potatoes but in the summer we do them BBQ style. I take the potato and after washing, cut them in half. Put a few slashes in the with you knife and add a dab of butter and some salt and pepper.
Wrap them in foil and put them on the barbecue first and let them cook a little before you start your meat.
When fork tender remove and enjoy. We add a dab of sour cream and a sprinkle of season salt.
Here they are all wrapped and waiting for the barbecue to heat up. I wish I had a picture of them done but the family was hungry and dived and I just said what the heck, no pic.
Making pork chops tonight and needed to decide on a side dish. Yup, this is it. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip, sometimes mine end up too tough.
ReplyDeleteHi Elaine,
ReplyDeleteWe do this also. Aren't they just delicious?!
All of a sudden, I am hungry. :-)

Oh I like this idea. Have you ever timed them? Just wondering how long they take to cook this way.
ReplyDeleteI alwasy mircoware the spuds for 5 mins 1st, that way they don't take so long on the BBQ.
ReplyDeleteI sometimes also, make a bunch of slices in the spud then insert slices of raw onion, butter & S&P, then wrap.
yummo!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Elaine,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for that idea! I have never done potatoes that way, but I'm going to the next time that we barbeque.
Hugs, Cindy

Hi Elaine,
ReplyDeleteI totally understand about not getting the photo before it is all gone. This is a great idea and I will be trying it, sure is better than heating up that oven. Hope you have a great week end and thanks for sharing with Full Plate Thursday!
Come back soon,
Miz Helen
