Summer Burnout

By this time of year, I am over it as they say. No trips to the nursery for flowers to fill my pots. Long gone  are the lush flowers from spring and early summer.

The heat here, even though we have had a mild summer, makes it hard to keep anything newly planted alive if you miss a days watering. So I am content to just putter and clean things up. I still water daily but I start to empty pots and put them away until next year.

I just enjoy the things in my garden that require no attention from me but still look pretty.

I love this old iron bench. I need to paint the wood but I hate to paint the sides as they have such a lovely aged rusty thing going on.

The ivy never dies. It is so happy hugging the base of my fountain. Less time planting and more time just turning the sprinkler on for the kids.

Your flowers still look lovely to me.
I too love your rustic iron bench.
But I too feel like summer is winding down.

I'm the same as Brenda... burnt to a crisp!
I was telling my hubby the other day, the only thing to possibly grow here is a Desert!

Your flowers look great, though. Can't tell by looking at them it's too hot yet.
I'm ready for WINTER!
It will probably be mild.
I don't think Fall will lend much relief here.

It seems the first of August arrived and the hint of fall is in the air. My flowers are tired too...still waiting for my dahlias to bloom!

To all concerned I was at the beach today. I just had that post on auto pilot. Maybe I post too much. Sort of like how I really am. I have been told by hubby I talk a lot. But compared to him, most people do.

I'm burnt up rather than burned out. It has been so hot here all summer that I haven't been able to really be in the garden as much as I like to. Your garden looks wonderful and it's sure nice to have areas that don't need much looking after. Hope you enjoyed the beach!

I could not agree with you more. We need a little relief from these hot days. My potted flowers on our porch (in the shade most of the day, mind you) are desperate for water at the end of each day. I feel like that! :o) Miss my Northern CA beaches and public swimming pool. ;o)
You can never talk too much!! I love reading your posts.
Your bench is precious. As is your other decorations in your yard. :o)
Have a fantastic day. Sincerely, Trish
