A Trip to the Beach and Crisis Averted

Went to the beach yesterday with some of my girls and their friends. We arrived nice and early as I like to get there and get out of there before the afternoon traffic. It was overcast and cool for about the first hour of our day but that did not deter the hardy who went in anyway.

Finally the clouds started to burn off. There was hardly anyone there even by around noon. Hello, it is August and this is the beach? Our weather has been mild and maybe that is keeping people home. We had plenty of room for ourselves.

Here is where I sat while Q got her feet wet. Dragged my chair right down to the water.

We had a nice day, perfect weather and you are on the beach so how could it go wrong right? On the way home the little light on my dash went off warning me of a flat tire. So off the freeway I went into a gas station and sure enough my tire was very low and huge screw was in the tire. Called hubby who said they often leak slowly like this so to fill it up with air and head home. So I did. Put air in that tire and hustled home though traffic. Now if you read this blog with any regularity you know I am a homebody. I don't really like to go too many places on my own. Have lived in Southern California my whole life and rarely head out to all it has to offer. I am happy at home. I force myself to take day trips so the girls can have fun but as the tire issue popped up I was thinking that is exactly why I don't go anywhere. Now camping is an exception. I will go anywhere if we are heading out camping. And we are heading to the mountains this weekend.

Glad you enjoyed your day at the beach, and I hope you enjoy your trip to the mountains this weekend. That's the great thing about California...travel a short distance and you find yourself in a totally different world....

I have been to the beach and I love it! Wish I was there right now!! Good thing about your tire. I had a flat on the freeway once and it was NOT fun!

Oh my goodness Elaine, the more I get to know you, the more I realize how alike we are. I too love to be home. I am very content here. I have to MAKE myself go do things away from home. But, with my husband, we go lots of places. Camping, yep...love to go do that. Where in the mountains are you going? Hope the tire thing can be easily fixed. I am a scaredy cat with things like that too!!!!!
PS Q looks so much like you!!!

Great that the crowds were not at the beach.
I've never heard of a light on dash for a car tyre - pleased you got home ok, can totally relate as I don't like going far either.

It's nice to get out ever once in awhile, but I am with you, I would much rather stay home and I do so just as much as I can. When I finally put clothes on the other day to head to the grocery story, the battery was dead in my car, so back inside I came. :) Your day at the beach looks nice, and glad that your tire did get you home without incident. Have a great rest of the week. Tammy

Hi Elaine,
How nice that you all had a fun visit to the beach.
How nerve wracking to have to drive home with a damaged tyre. Glad it ended well for you.
