Mowing On



Okay, I am back to normal. I got out there and mowed our back lawn. Sweat and the smell of fresh cut lawn is like a tonic to me. Not the sweat part really but the mowing YES! I will occasionally mow our back lawn as it is small and hubs works a lot so I will do it and I love it more than housework for sure. It is a good workout. I don't mow the front lawn. Too big. I would probably strain something.
But it was good. That and the big hug that enveloped me when hubby got home made me right as rain. Besides my mom would kick my fanny if she knew I was moping after all this time. She would want me on with life. She was a very practical woman.

Then I headed in and made the den cozy with my new Autumn candle and some mood lighting. I feel better. Thanks to everyone for so many nice words of encouragement. You all were like a big hug to me to and it was much appreciated. I am heading to my girlfriends with some flowers and open arms. We need to see each other and know we have both been there.

  2. Can smell the cut grass from here. I always find cutting the lawn clears my head and sounds like it worked for you. Best of luck!

  3. Hi Elaine. I am sure the mowing was good therapy. I spend a lot of time in the yards, and there is something about good old fashioned hard work that is medicinal!! I am saying a little prayer that your visit with your dear friend today brings peace to the both of you.

    I saw your back yard and felt right at home. Haven't we been having the most glorious weather??
    I lost my mother many years ago of course, but it still hurts.
    Now my sweet children are beginning to hover over me a bit..and I assure them "it's ok. I will never, ever, be gone from you. Think of me and I will be there."

  7. Ironing is therapy to me. That and painting rooms (not canvases). If a friend asks me what I've been doing, and I say that I have been painting a room, they ask me, "What's wrong?" ;P

  8. I so glad your feeling better. Working outside always helps me put things in perspective and move forward, too. I have been lighting the fall candle you gifted me with now that the nights have cooled down. It's almost baking weather...can't wait.

  9. Doing physical work outsides always lifts my spirits too. Your grass looks great. Am sure your hubby was so grateful for your help. So sorry for your loss of your mother's friend. Each of us grieves in our own way. It is not a race to see who gets over the grief soonest, it must be done in your own time, your own way, which seems to be exactly what you have done. Good for you.

  12. Elaine, cute vignette. I do alllllll our yard work and I too love the smell of fresh cut grass. It is getting to be a bit much though as I get older. Of course we have a riding mower for our huge yard, but I do use a push edger and carry a very heavy blower on my back. Good workout.
