Okay,Okay

It has been decided not to paint the desk. Other folks in the house agreed with most of you that it should remain in its original finish. It does have a lot of detail in the wood and painting so maybe just a new seat cover will do. But what style is it? I have always wondered. Spanish something or other. Have no clue.

Maybe Greek or Italian? Reminds me of furniture I saw once in a Greek Orthodox church.

I don't know but that is a stunning piece! Glad you're not going to paint it!

That desk is gorgeous and I wouldn't paint that either. Such beautiful wood and details just like it is.

Elaine -- I didn't read the ooriginal post (been a busy week for me), but I am in whole-hearted agreement -- mostly because I just stripped and refinished an antique piece that had been painted (may I add badly painted, lol). Your desk is positively gorgeous :)

Blessings!
Gail --> who would paint MOST anything :)

Elaine ~ I just stopped by ~ been busy, and I am SOOO glad you are not going to paint the desk. It is a fantastic piece. There are some pieces which are meant to be left as they are ;-)

The desk has so much character. Stunning!

I totally agree about leaving it as is. Painting it would be a crime. It is a gorgeous piece of furniture. :)

I have no idea the style, but I am so happy you aren't going to paint it. I for one am really getting a little worried about everyone painting every piece of furniture in sight. I think it has become overload. Hugs, Marty

Whew...that was a close one! I think it has a mediterranean vibe to it....I still love it!!

It reminds me of a piece I saw in the Chicago Art Institute. It black with the art work and maybe turned legs. I don't think it is Spanish. Thanks for leaving it in it's original state.

Oh!! It's beautiful as it is! I don't know what style it is, but it's lovely, lovely! If the chair goes with it, it strikes me as definitely Spanish.

I just saw your desk and it is beautiful! Glad you are not painting it.

Some things are just not meant to be painted, and this must be one of those. Give the chair a nice linen cover and you will love it still!
hugs, cindy

The color of the pieces in the picture is already best for me. I love wood and its effect on the base white paint in your home.

What a lovely and unusual desk! I'm so glad you're not painting it, too. Its colors make it sing already. Perhaps your desk chair could pick up one of the lighter shades in the desk's painted flowers or the background color?

Cheers!

What a beauty. I'm not sure of the style, but it is very unusual. So happy you decided not to paint it 8-)

If it were mine, I would not paint it either. But since it is not a piece you are wanting to sell or keep the dollar value of the same, I saw no harm in painting it to suit your style, or color scheme. To me, it looks very European. But I am not sure either.
