Stolen Day = Productivity and the Best Glass Cleaning Tools

The other day I had one of those stolen days. A whole day to be home and productive while we stayed home from Tuesday school because of my 8th grader's cold. I never even started my car. Oh, I am dull but I love those days. You get so much done.

I started in my bedroom. It was dusted top to bottom. I then washed every bit of bedding and put on the winter blankies. I have been a little chilly at night. I still have not bought bedding but we are thinking of getting a new bed so I will wait.
For now a mish mash of bedding will have to do.

Then I attached the shelves in the kitchen and wiped them all down. How does so much dirt get in clean cupboards?

The gift wrap drawer was next. Thinned and straightened for the holiday wrapping coming up.

Last, before I collapsed, I cleaned the pictures in the house. Love how they shine now. Won't last long in this house. Kids, dogs and hairy kitties make so much work for mom. I wouldn't have it any other way. My daughter reminded me of this yesterday when I was bemoaning the laundry I was folding. She quoted me the stinker, "Mom lots of laundry means you have lots of loved ones in the house." The little pill. How dare she?

And as for cleaning glass. My favorite tools are literally prefolded cloth diapers. They are the best cleaning rags ever. No lint and washable for years. I am still using Q's old ones though they are about done. My cleaning solution is plain old alcohol and water. About a third to one is my rough estimate. I use it on everything. No smears and dries so clean.

Oh I love those kinds of days! Isn't it funny how you can clean your house from top to bottom, and by the time you get to the last thing, it is time to start all over again? Gah!!!
I have been a wee chilly at night too. Time for another blankie!

Cloth diapers are the best, yes. I'm still using the only one I have left from my daughter's infancy. I used them as burp cloths then, dust cloths now.

I attacked some of our picture frames also the other day! Love a day where I can just stay home and take care of things.

Sounds like a good day. And you got so much done! When I am bemoaning the laundry or all that cleaning, I sing "Another day in paradise".

Sounds like you got alot done. I just love what your Daughter said. I must write that down for my Daughter. Great idea about the diapers. I think I will get some this weekend. Can't wait to see the look on Hubbys face when he sees me getting them. HA! HA!

Hi Elaine, Thank you so much for joining the Open House party. We all need those days where we get things accomplished around the house. We have been doing a lot of cleaning lately with our house on the market. Thanks again for linking.
Hugs,

Dull, my dear?! NOPE! Only those who need constant entertainment and stimulus need to be out everyday. I love being home, feathering our nest, making things comfy and pleasant. Sure, I enjoy exercise, work, an outing, but when you get the chance to get caught up and even put out a few special touches for those you love, it feels great. And for me it actually reduces the stress that clutter and messes bring! lol

Sooo fun to have one of those kinds of days. I was home this week for three days but I couldn't be a bit productive. I wrenched my knee on Sunday and couldn't stand for two days. Having an MRI tomorrow - hoping for no surgery. So, I'm a wee bit jealous! Such a great feeling.

And by such a great feeling I meant the getting things done, not the jealous part! LOL

I've got a powerful hankering to do a deep fall cleaning around here. I'm trying to find a day when I feel good enough to tackle it without stopping. There's nothing worse (OK, maybe there are worse things, but...) than starting a deep clean and having to stop mid stream.
