Indulgent Me

I have to apologize for my last self indulgent post . You all responded to sweetly with such encouragement that I just feel guilty. There are so many people with real problems and I was complaining about my life that was hectic from a busy week with nothing troubling or any illness. There are so many people out there with real needs for prayer and encouragement that I feel bad. Anyway though, thank you to all of you that just sent me the sweetest thoughts and words and know that I read them and feel so blessed. How I wish I lived near all of you so we could have coffee and a real chat. I think a lot of us are missing that connection with women that prior generations used to get on a regular basis. I remember my mom and the neighbors having "coffee and". That is what they called it as in coffee and cookies or whatever was available. All in their housecoats they would get together for regular chats in one another's kitchens. Boy I wish it was still like that. I never even see my neighbors.

So I am packing and we are off this weekend as friends we see once a year will be there so I am very blessed and lucky and THANKFUL and need to finish my lists of meals and such to feed all of us. Thank you everyone and I guess sometimes we just blog in the moment and that is where I was. Love my blogging sisters. You guys are the best.

  3. Hi Elaine,
Don't apologize, just because you don't have a huge problem doesn't mean you can't say your having a tough time. Sometimes you just need a little comfort from friends. You're right, it would be nice to see friends regularly, times sure have changed. I try to schedule little outings with friends so we can stay in touch. Enjoy your get away !

  5. Shhh! We ALL need to vent sometimes. I wish we had those coffee times too. Since we don't, I'm just a blog or email away. :)

  7. Elaine-- Isn't it great to know that we can just "let go" and be ourselves with our blogging sisters and everyone "gets it"? I think that is what is so freeing about being here blogging. Every woman has felt what I have felt on some level on any given day!

Have a wonderful trip! xo Diana

  8. Elaine.....Yes, there are many folks out there with other problems, but that was where you were on that day. You have absolutely no reason to feel guilty for anything. We all have those days when we want to fall down and have a melt down, problem is we are no longer four. So, we tell our friends and hopefully get the support we need to get us back on our feet and on our way. No apologies needed. Have a terrific weekend with your friends.

  11. I know where are the aunts and grannies and all those women who used to gather around? I am blessed to have wonderful neighbors who are my friends. I see them more than my family.

  12. You have every right to complain, let off some steam. That's how we re-charge. What are friends for if not to talk things out. Even if it is on a blog. Enjoy your get-away.

  14. Hey girl...I have felt the same way before...I blog about something based upon something that has happened in my life and even though it makes me feel so good to write about it and get it off my chest, I turn around and feel bad for writing it...
Really though....this is what blogging is all about..and we have so many wonderful blogging friends that are always so supportive of us...for this, I am so very thankful...
    Hugs to you....

  15. I remember when I was first married many light years ago, lol, and I had a little one. I had a couple of girlfriends and they would always stop in during the week for coffee or ice tea or whatever, and we would sit at the kitchen table and gab while our kids played. No one does that anymore????? I still have those friends from my 20s...and I do still get together with them as often as I can, since we are 45 minutes away...but things have changed in this world. I remember my parents and the social life they had too...seems no one has time for it anymore? I still need to visit that country store soon....maybe we should have coffee and shop....indulge ourselves a little!?!!

  16. It's okay to have a 'pity party' once in a while. As long as we come out of it by taking a deep breath and blowing it away ;)
I agree with you, Elaine, about the lack of coffee get-togethers these days. Living in the country doesn't allow the luxury of inviting your neighbor over for coffee. I love the idea of inviting your blogging friends for a day of shopping, lunch....whatever. Now to find blogging friends who live in central Oklahoma!!! :)

  17. Hello my friend, I guess blogging is the "coffee and" of the 21st Century. I agree, I know I am missing a chance to chat with other women face to face. I am grateful for this, though.
Have a great getaway with your family.
    Hugs, Cindy

  18. So easy for me to be negative at this time of year with the cold coming on and the days getting shorter. We all have our down days now and then. Lucky you to be able to meet MaryJane and see her adorable vintage trailer. Mimi

  19. Hello, Sweet Elaine! I have missed so many fun posts on your blog while I've been busy. Your hair looks absolutely *G*O*R*G*E*O*U*S !!!! :D

I also enjoyed seeing all of your cute autumn (and Thanksgiving) decorations. I refuse to be panicked about Thanksgiving. I can get caught-up this week (I hope).

Have a great time on your getaway! I can't wait to hear all about it.

  20. Hope your trip was a wonderful one Elaine! Oh I too remember my mother in the kitchen filled with her darling close friends! It was all the time and yes, those house coats! The giggles that went on in there. Those were the days, weren't they? I am glad I have those fond memories!

    Miss ya,
    Maryjane
