Update on My Post from Yesterday

I have had so many moving comments on my post from yesterday about the state of struggling families. So many of you are hurting and fighting to stay above water and I pray that you will find the days and years ahead easier. It was never my intention to shame any of us that show our homes or wonderful times as that is what we are, home and life bloggers. I want to see them again. You cannot always be focused on the negative right? When my father in law starts to get too excited about the future of our country I try to remind him that my girls need to be hopeful about their future. If they don't feel like they have all possibilities open to them then they are robbed of what we all had when we were young.
I just wanted to share some thoughts on what was going on in our week and the problem is a very real one. One we do have to deal with but please don't stop showing me the beauty of life. It is important and vital and necessary too.

  1. Blogging is not just about showing our homes and our wonderful blessings it's also about sharing our lives and our hardships and your post spoke volumes. Sometimes it can be difficult to find the good in life when times are so hard but just a quick look around at our families and friends (like you) make us grateful for what we do have.

  2. Blogging is about sharing our hearts. Sometimes, we have happy hearts, sometimes fearful or discouraged. One without the other is one sided, IMO. If our hearts include our homes, I think it's beautiful to share that, even in a depression.

My mom talks of growing up in the 30s and 40s with such genuine happiness. They were struggling just like everyone around them, but they LIVED and LOVED and even found thrifty ways to decorate a home and have fun.

  3. Your post was lovely and so true as to what we all see around us. I think it is wonderful to remember others and our trials every day, however, I agree, it is wonderful to see the thrifty ways we all try to appreciate the blessings that we do have and to make our homes as lovely as we can no matter the budget we have to work with. Hopefully no one needs to think they have to try and keep up with the Jones. I see how creative and thrifty everyone is and it just encourages me even more. So, I agree, we all need to see the beauty too. Hugs, Marty

  5. I agree...sometimes we don't want to share the uglies... the hard truth...or even make a personal confession. But I think they are all important in blogging. Otherwise who wants to read the same ol' boring LIFE IS ALWAYS GRAND type of blog.
Real Life. That's what I need to read about. Because sometimes out of those real life stories...Victory Rises and gives us all hope!
Believe me, I hesitated to hit the *publish* button on my latest post. But sometimes these are stories that need to be told.
    Thanks for posting, Elaine.

    I for one appreciate it.

  6. It is tough to maintain a balance, I think. It is hard to maintain hope while so many are struggling. I truly appreciate both posts, Elaine. You have such a loving and kind spirit.

I am also looking forward to your posts on cost savings. We are revamping our budget the next couple of weeks, so we can use all the help we can get!
