Wonderful Saturday

Ya'll know my love of staying home and after weeks of running around, I had no where to go today. Yay!!!!
No one to see, no one coming over. Just us and our jammies for the better part of the day. Hubby has been out of town so girls just laid around and talked and spent some wonderful downtime. I did clean the fridge though as it is so empty right now it was the perfect time. Must go shopping tomorrow to restock for the week. I am trying to get our service porch/pantry more organized to store more food I find at bargain prices. The cookbooks I kept in the cupboard came out to top the microwave. Using all that horizontal space up.
I think they look cute here and handy too.

Cards from sweet blogger friends I wanted to display. You can see my post on making this wine cork board here.

Patty and Kris look what I tried my hand at. Yep, looks bad I know but it was my first try ever at crocheting. Between youtube and my oldest daughter I am making a crocheted dishcloth for practice. I can see why you get hooked. The rhythm of the needle is so soothing. I hope I can get better and make a blanket.

Brownies made last night for guests were finished up today with a cup of afternoon coffee for me and cocoa for the girls.

For dinner the girls and I made a home made cheese pizza. It is so easy to make pizza dough. Takes just minutes if you have any kind of mixer and just a bit more by hand. It tastes so good. Here is my calzone and pizza dough recipe.

Hi Elaine. I have some of the same cookbooks! And I recognize a couple of those cards!! Cute display! Hey, great job on the crocheting. Yes, it is a very comforting thing to do. A dishcloth is the perfect project. Good luck! Next thing you know, you will be making afghans like crazy!!!
Sounded like a relaxing day. Not mine!! Boy oh boy....I am hurting already!!

What a perfect day! I just told Chris we need to get together for a crochet-athon. Sweets, coffee and a crochet hook sounds wonderful. I can't wait till I retire!

I look forward to having a day like that very soon. :D

I want to see your cork board post, too. We have a rather large collection of corks floating around here!

Love a pajama day. They seem to be so rare. I guess I need to declare one!

It does sound like you had a nice Saturday. Mine was nice although I didn't get anything done that I should of! LOL.
I should try to crochet. One of my girls is doing it now. It sounds relaxing, BUT, just like when I was cross-stitching, I won't get anything else done. I put my cross stitching stuff up 12 years ago and haven't gone back to it. I am too afraid too!

I envy you. I was looking forward to a quiet day.But my husband had errands to do and wanted me to go along. No more then an hour he said. We came back 3 hours later. When it comes to home depot. A man can shop like a women.

I'm trying to do the same being frugal and using what I already have! I love days where I don't have to go anywhere and can just stay home and nest!

Sounds like fun! And that pizza looks great. I bought some Italian sausage yesterday to put on a pizza. I love it homemade. Also, I cleaned out my fridge too. We seem to be all thinking alike right now:)

Kudos for learning to crochet! Looks like you are off to a great start. I recently posted an easy scrubby and washcloth pattern if you want to take a look: http://gratefulprayerthankfulheart.blogspot.com/2011/12/another-finished-christmas-gift.html

I love pajama days!! When I do it, hubby comes home from work and finds it almost sinful! Seriously...I'm not going anywhere, no one's coming to visit and I like to be comfy!! ;)
I see you guys finished off the brownies and didn't even save one for me?!?!
Yay for learning how to crochet! And starting with dishcloths is a good idea. I love it and have done doilies in the past but am now into making afghans...got one going for my granddaughter right now.

Hi, Elaine ... not sure if you'll see this comment 'a year later' after the post, but ... just spotted two of your cookbooks by Susan Branch, and wondered if you follow her blog? If not, I think you might enjoy it. Love how your 'empty' chicken coop enhances your garden and keeps pleasant memories alive in your heart <3
