Comic Relief #2

I promised to share my funny story about our goofy dog. I am not kidding when I tell you I deserve a crown for living with this dog for so many years. She is the most busy, get into trouble girl. I swear in all seriousness this dog has ADHD. I think dogs can have issues just like people. You know that movie Life with Marley? I never needed to see it because I have lived it for over nine years.

Well, the other night we all heard the most loud ruckus. But what is funny is we all knew what the sound was.
You see our big dog likes to try to lick the dirty dishes when we are loading the dishwasher. We all shoo her away but my daughter's friend was trying to be nice and load his plate in the dishwasher. Little did he know you have to watch out for Sandy the plate licker. She eyed the unsuspecting loader and came a licking. Her collar must have become caught on the bottom rack. Of course the dog panicked.

Here is where the bottom rack should be.

And here is where it ended up. Across the front room and in my entry way. Once she became unhooked she continued licking. The poor kid looked like a truck had hit him and the rest of us knew what had happened. We all laughed and I of course snapped a picture. In our house you really just have to laugh or you will crumble under the chaos at times. Laughter just helps you get through the craziness of life. Oh, and my little one kept bringing me dirty forks as she kept finding them under furniture, thrown askew as the rack rattled across our house.

I added the Linky Followers thingy on my side. I know we are all worried about the Google followers going away so I added  the widget. You can get it too if you click on it.

Tomorrow is another installment from the Thrifty Living Series.

  1. I needed a good laugh this morning. As they say, "Dogs will be dogs." I can only imagine the looks on the friends face as that rack came out of the dishwasher and was being dragged across the room...What a hoot! Thanks for sharing this funny moment with all of us!

  2. I can so relate to this as we had our own "Marley" for 13 chaotic years. He was a yellow lab named Jake and he was the most loveable, destructive dog I have ever known. I remember quite vividly the day I came home to my patio furniture strewn and disemboweled all over the backyard - of course the screens had all been yanked out of the screened porch so he could drag it all out there.

    Labs! Love 'em.

  3. Oh that is too funny!! I thought I had a crazy dog! Mine comes running when I load the d/w and will start licking if I turn my back, but she is nothing like that!!

Thank you for your comment this morning. That was so sweet. The stickers on the jars are reproductions from a great ebay store. I did a post on them last Summer.

Have a great day and give that doggy a big hug!

  6. A story you will never forget! Too funny. I had a Irish setter like that, nothing like pulling out of the driveway and see her standing on the dining room table!

  8. Too funny! Our basset Delilah likes to lick the dirty dishes too. Of course if I catch her I stop her. Fortunately she is low to the ground so pulling out the rack shouldn't happen here! Sounds like a "fun" dog! I feel for you!

  9. We have friends in WI that had 2 dachaunds...and they were the prewash....they could get there tongues sideways on the plate while it was standing in the dishwasher....I am strange enough to think it was cute...besides, they do get sanitized in the dishwasher...but I know some people think it is taboo!!

  10. Haha, I love it - glad that thing was on wheels :) Would love to see the face of the poor kid! So funny.

I followed your linky tools; I started work last night on getting it on my blog as well, because the rumors seem strong that GFC is going away entirely, soon.

    Hugs ~ Mary

  15. LOL! I laughed my butt off at this. We have 2 dogs that try to lick the dishes too and it drives me crazy. If I leave the dishwasher open and walk away, my dauschund will climb up on the door.

  16. Especially funny to us dog lovers. I got a big kick out of it. I could picture it because my son has a dog like that. One time when I was visiting him for a couple of days, I left my suitcase on the floor and really hadn't unpacked yet. Pretty soon here comes Goldie (Golden Retriever) wearing my bra over her neck and one arm. Needless to say we all got a kick out of that too. I have since learned to put my clothes away as soon as I get there. Thanks for the laugh.

  25. Oh dear, this reminds me of a funny video where a dog is busted when there is garbage scattered about everywhere, and the garbage lid is still stuck around the dog's neck when the owner comes home to discover the mess.. and the guilty look on the dog's face is priceless! Hope you're dishwasher was fixed and restored o.k., after all was said and done!... As for the "Linky Followers"?? Will our followers lists on our sidebars, as we have them now, be gone soon? Did I miss the memo?! I bookmarked the link you mentioned. Is this something we ALL better do? ~tina
