Garden News - Butterfly Bush

You know summer is coming when you pick your first tomato. Not very big but it was delicious. Early girl is the variety and it gives me my first tomatoes each year so I always plant one.

Picked our Texas Red grapefruit tree clean. No more food for the opossum to steal. Put the extras in a wheelbarrow out front.

The butterfly bush is bursting.

And as I was standing there shooting the pictures, along came a visitor.

I love it next to the chartreuse green leaves.

Do you do this? I get distracted with kids or chickens and leave my garden tools hiding in the planters. Then the next time I am poking around I think there that thing is.

  1. hee, hee adult ADHD! I will find odd things that have been discarded in the studio....it happens to me all the time! Great photo of the butterfly. Grapefruit sounds like a great breakfast this morning. You are up early, by the way!

  5. Well that's a sight you won't see here, grapefruit on a tree, or for free. Very cool!

And a tomato? Already....we just want to see some growth out of our plants, lol, much less fruit.

  6. As I'm not a 'true gardener at heart'...I don't remember what kind of tomatoes I plant. I just know I planted tomatoes! ha ha ...I spottes some little ones on the vine the other day. But haven't gotten one yet.
    Your's looked delicious!

Now, as to Grapefruit! Wowzer! good for you that you can grow that citrus tree and have plenty left over to share.

Do the neighbors really take advantage of your generosity? I think that is so wonderful.

I have no idea really, how my garden tools end up where they do, but when I find them I say the same thing-- there that thing is!

    have a great one, Pat

  8. Your first tomato is a wonderful thing. I love our butterfly bush too. It makes me smile. I keep my essential garden tools in a terracotta pot right in view on the deck. I do not bother going to our shed-no time for that.

  9. I have a question about your butterfly bush. I planted one this year...but it isn't doing too well. Do they take a bit to get started? Any hints?

  11. Wow! Do you know we can only now plant outside? We always have danger of frost until after Memorial Day...however, this year we are WAY ahead of schedule...but still people wait to plant.

I leave gardening tools in all the wrong places, too. xo Diana

  17. I constantly leave tools out and forget where I left them! Our butterfly bush won't be blooming for quite a while yet, but I sure love it.
