I know summer is just around the corner when I wake up to bright sunshine streaming in the windows. Days already warm when I head out to let the chickens out.
Are you ready for summer? You know what? I am more ready this year than in years prior. My 14 year old has her last day of school this week so I am looking forward to the break for the summer. I have my lists of to do things with the extra free time and may not get too many of them but good intentions are there.
I am ready for picnics even if just in the yard. We have already bought our first box of Popsicles and every day my little one asks if it is hot enough for a one.
Time for sweet corn on the cob. This kid can eat three ears at a time and then I will give them to the chickens.
And time for camping. I hope we can squeeze more than one trip in but our summer is so busy this year. I just love taking our little trailer out and enjoying time away from all electronics with the kids actually unplugging and sitting around chatting and playing frisbee.
Meals outdoors just taste so good.
Great post! I too am ready for summer this year! Wow, your daughter gets out of school early! great post- I enjoyed reading it!
ReplyDeleteOh it is already getting so hot here and way too early, so I am not sure that I am ready. I want some great fun outdoors, just not all the heat. Hope your summer is fabulous. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteyour little girl is such a sweet heart munching on that corn, you sound like your summer will be wonderful have a great monday!
ReplyDeleteHi Elaine,
ReplyDeleteQ looks adorable munching on her corn. We are getting our camper ready for a three week trip out west. We have plans to see lots of things along the way. Then a week camping in Oregon with my family. It will seem strange to be away from Ladybug Cottage for so long but we are really excited too.
Suzan
Sounds lovely!
ReplyDeleteOur summer plans will include lots of days at the beach and my husband coming home for his 2 weeks of R&R (only 44 more days!:).
We will have Joe's grandchildren (mine too I guess) for three weeks in June. That will be interesting and I will not be able to blog about them either...long story. I used to camp when CC was little and it was fun.
ReplyDeleteLove your ideas, all sound like fun. I hadn't really made any summer plans but now that you mention it, perhaps I should do that :) Hugs ~ Mary
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI just happened upon your blog and I really enjoyed it. I also have chickens, 7 of them actually. I have to go back and read your posts on your adventures with your chickens. I'm your newest follower. It's so nice to meet you!
Julie
How cute is she munching on that corn! Summer camping trips,, the best ever. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteblessings to you.
Hi~
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog from Lisa Leonard's "Hello Monday" link-up. I love your little camper; it's so cute! And corn-on-the-cob is my favorite summertime treat! Have a great week :)
I love corn on the cob too....just not all the little pieces stuck in your mouth afterwards. Sounds like you have a very happy summer planned. Not sure what's in store for me. I don't really travel much. I gave that up when I decided to have four indoor dogs. I don't leave them behind, and all but one of them do not travel well. I'm sure I'll have a great summer regardless.
ReplyDeleteYep, I think I am ready. I have a little trouble with the heat, but I get up early and do my chores, so that is out of the way before the heat comes. I just love seeing your trailer pics!! You camp like we do. In fact, your picnic table looks identical to ones I have spread on camping trips. Right down to the basket and canopy mesh screens over the food.
ReplyDeleteHappy Summer!!!
I'm ready for parts of summer but the heat. Not ready for that! We, as I am reminded of everyday, are 3 days away from having an official "Senior in H.S." for the last time. So we will be getting senior pic's done and preparing for the last H.S. years in our home!
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to believe that summer is just right around the corner! Only next month! I am looking forward to camping trips, and picnics and being outside more - playing and hiking. :) Have a beautiful week ~
ReplyDeleteI love to camp. Love your little trailer and your outdoor table is beautiful. I hope to go to Tennessee to visit my family in June. I have not been home for almost a year. I cannot believe May is half GONE! Enjoy your summer.
ReplyDeleteI am sooo ready!! I just hope that time slows down a bit so that we can enjoy it! Happy Monday.
ReplyDeleteI am ready to join you on that picnic any time! What a cute trailer and the picnic table full of yummies looks so inviting.
ReplyDeleteHello Elaine,
ReplyDeleteLove that little face "chewing" corn! :o)
Camping is so much fun!
Gabriela
We need to get our summer weather back. We had better weather in March. I love summer I want to do lots of kayaking and I plan on hiking with friends.
ReplyDeleteCathy
Great summer post. Your trailer is so cute.
ReplyDeleteI am so ready to go camping. We have a trip planned in June. I can't wait.
ReplyDeleteHi Elaine! Your summer plans sound just wonderful!! I think it is so important for all of us to unplug from the crazy world we live in. A couple of days out in nature refreshes our bodies and our souls. Love your trailer!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Susan and Bentley
Well I know one thing, I sure wish my summer plans included coming to your outdoor dinner party! Everything looks so goooood. You are so right, it does taste so much better outdoors and camping.
ReplyDeleteWell...since Don's now retired...we plan to do many things this Summer. We have alist from years past...places we want to go and things we want to do...most of them are close by and simple...camping is a big part of summer for us too!!Great post!!
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, camping, cookouts, corn on the cob, all the fresh fruits. Man, I loved doing that every summer when I was a youngster. Then we did it with our kids. Tradition :o)
ReplyDeleteCarol
I'm afraid my plans are work, I'm not a school lunch lady this year so no time off.:>{
ReplyDeleteMy gilrs were just saying they wish we could go camping together again this year, but with everyone working it becomes a whole lot harder to co-ordinate vacation time, and with new jobs we don't have any coming anyway!
Enjoy your summer Elaine, your kids will remember those camping trips and popsicles forever!
My plans are working on getting my landscaping done and when it's too hot for that I'll be inside sewing and painting walls. I'm a homebody...I worked for years outside the home, traveled and was "on call" 24/7 so now that I'm retired I love just staying home and having no committments! But I love the camping idea!
