It feels as if summer is surely on its way here. I spend so much time outside because well, I just love it and I want to enjoy my flowers before the summer heat makes them sort of take a snooze around here.
The beds have all filled in and now it is enjoy time.
Q is snatching off all the day lilies as they bloom. This is hard for me but I let her take some. You know the battle between gardener and mom. Mom usually wins but not always.
Spoiled chickens though just walk through my pots.
But they do eat all the bugs around them know.
Now a favorite spot. Thankfully a grapefruit tree canopies over this so they cannot jump up on the wall.
I just sit and watch them. Very entertaining and calming. Something about their constant picking and bobbing just calms a person.
They are like real life garden ornaments. My garden is just prettier with them roaming around.
=) Lovely pics from u garden!
ReplyDeleteThe garden and "the girls" are looking grand!!! They are already developing their combs. Some breeds will start to lay at about 20 weeks. So it could be that your barred rocks will be early. Make sure you have a nesting box for them to explore. When you see them getting in and out of it, they are getting ready.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful and so fun. The "girls" are growing up! They have just made available a limited number of permits for keeping chickens in the city limits of Orlando - no roosters. We are not in city limits, but I hope when we make our move to west coast, I can have some hens in my backyard and enjoy them and the fresh eggs - not to mention insect control! Ann
ReplyDeleteYour flowers and garden decorations are SO pretty! You inspire me to keep working on mine and maybe someday it will be as pretty as yours.
ReplyDeleteYour girls are just a hoot and I can why you love them so! I can't wait until you get eggs. How much longer?
I'd love a garden with a few chickens doing pest control! Great pictures :)
ReplyDeleteLove that last pic. Also love that they eat bugs.
ReplyDeleteYour flower beds are beautiful! and your "girls" as well! Did you wind up with any roosters? I don't think I missed a post about it...did I?? and "live garden ornaments"!!! PERFECT..yes they are! God does make the best "things" doesn't He? I like His ornaments better than ANY that we can buy! :)
ReplyDeleteWow, they are bigger then I expected them to be. I think that would be so cool to sit and watch them roam the garden. Bet your little one just loves to chase them! We are just getting around to planting flowers around here. Our day lilies are months off from even blooming. Great yard you have!
ReplyDeleteYour garden is lovely! Aren't chickens so wonderful? We enjoy ours. Have a blessed week ahead ~
ReplyDeleteANYone's garden would be prettier with chickens roaming about, in my opinion. I don't dare have free-roaming chickens because of my two dogs, but I could let them free range in our large 18 x 71 ft. pen. Love those barred rock (??). What gorgeous animals!
ReplyDeleteloving the photos!
ReplyDeleteI envy the fact that you can let your chickens roam free. Mine unfortunately need to be in the coop yard even tho it is big. I have chicken hawks, foxes and who knows what other critters that would love to have them for lunch.
ReplyDeleteLove your gardens and love seeing the girls taking care of all the bugs! Hugs, Linda
ReplyDeleteChickens are a gardeners best friends :)
ReplyDeleteLove all your gorgeous flowers...and chickens too!
I think your feathered friends just MAKE your garden pictures. How cute are they-wandering around without a care in the world? What a life- fed, watered and surrounded by beauty. xo Diana

ReplyDeleteLove the pictures.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh...how cute!!! Great photos.
ReplyDeleteWell you know how much I covet your back garden and patio area. I would probably spend all my time out there and never get anything done, especially now with the new entertainment!
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are so pretty. I love your garden ornaments, both kinds!
ReplyDeleteThose girls are earning their keep by eating the bugs and helping to fertilize the plants. Soon they will be laying some eggs and later, well we won't think of that, if you know what I mean. We have a neighbor up the road who leaves their hens run loose. I am surprised they haven't gotten run over yet, or stolen. They say it is good to allow them free range and it is good that you allow them time out of their pen. Love the posts! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDelete(((HUGS))) Susanne :)
Those are the cutest little bird houses...love them.
