Weekend Plans

We are heading to Elle Cottage for a long weekend at the beach. We will spend time on the sand and time just doing whatever. Because there is no phone or internet up there I will not be hosting Sunny Simple Sunday this week. I hope you all have a wonderful end of summer Labor Day weekend. I am so excited. All the older kids are staying home so it is just hubby, I and Q. Here's to sand in your toes. Are you all doing anything fun over the weekend? We come home early Monday so we can attend a friend's end of the summer pool party so fun all around. I am thankful and blessed. When life is going well we sure need to savor it and be thankful. Many are suffering through the hurricane and my husband's best friend, a coworker for almost 25 years, is spending some of the last days with his terminally ill wife. It has been hanging heavy on my husband's heart, this trial his friend is going through. She is home and under hospice care. What do you do? Life is full of tough times. We feel helpless with the daily updates. She is intensely private and has limited visitors so we just try and be there for our friend.
As I am typing this my husband called and the news is not good. We may have to rethink our trip. My husband wants to be available if needed. Well, I will sign off. Just don't know what to say really.

Elaine, I know this probably won't help when you were so looking forward to your get away, but I always tell me husband that when our plans change for some reason at the last minute, that God wanted us to stay home.

I know you were looking for some time away. Sometimes when things are outside our control--we try or feel as though we should try to do something...anything.
You titled this post weekend plans. Maybe you need this time away. Won't change how your husband is a friend--you said they are private. I think that sometimes it's best to keep straight ahead continue with the plans.
Maybe in the morning after y'all slept on it--you'll be able to make a decision that is agreeable.
I pray for comfort for your husband's friend and family.

The grace of the LORD Jesus be with your spirit. ~Pat

To change your plans because of a sick and dying friend is such an unselfish act of kindness. There may not be much you can do, but sometimes just being there if needed is a blessing.

I applaud your husband's act of unselfishness and love for his friend. I think this is part of laying down our lives for others. God bless and pray your week-end is filled with something more rewarding than fun at the beach. I also applaud your following your husband's lead. Sweet.

Oh my, it is so hard to see a good friend going through such a tough time. Sometimes there are just no words to help the hurt that they feel.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend, wherever you may be.

You husband is a good man to put his friend's welfare above his own wishes. But, you already know that!

I'm so sorry to hear about your husband's friend and his wife. He has a very kind heart to want to be there for his friend. I pray that he will be sensitive to God's leading as he reaches out and serves this friend in whatever way he can.
My heart and my prayers go out for this family during this very difficult time.

I hope you enjoy your weekend @ Elle cottage....

I am so sorry about your friend. Try to enjoy your time with Princess Q and Mr. Sunny.

I am nursing a sinus infection, and we are all exhausted from worrying about Isaac and Trip's family. We are resting at the lake this weekend, and I am doing one short post, and that's it....I will visit other blogs this weekend. I don't feel like posting.

(((hugs))),

We've been down that road. Sometimes it's not what you say, it's just being there. And being there for him after she's gone, that will be rough for him...

My heart goes out to you, your husband and your friends. It's good that we can share difficult moments on blogs.
One of my first blogfriends lost her stepfather and sister in three weeks time. I'm glad we can be there for here just by leaving a comment. It's not much, but it helps a little bit.
