Christmas Cozy

It has been raining and raining here. Where do I live again? It is nice though. I love rainy days. Perfect weather for decking the house out in Christmas decor. What evokes cozy more than dark days and sparkly Christmas lights?

This year I did my village a bit different. Threw out the messy old snow and layed down a runner and backed it with an old  lighted garland to hide the cords. I had to untangle and re-string the lights but no money spent. I love it. Never decorate the same two years in a row. That is half the fun of it.

The front room with our tree is going to be more woodsy and in more prim colors this year. Each of the kid's rooms has a tree now with all their ornaments. Not sure how they would take this but hey, hubby and I deserve to decorate the tree the way we want for once in 23 years.

Of course it is dark and not great for photos but the kitchen will always be for my bright red and whites. That  Santa was my mom's. She had it always. I treasure him. I just decorate using things I have.

Oh Elaine, you made me think about unpacking my village. It hasn't been unpacked since I moved in 2008. Everything looks lovely. xo

I love the village and that Santa! My mom had the SAME one! Somewhere over the years it got lost but every year until I was about 27 that Santa was on the wall.. Nice treasure to pass down to your children and so on :)

I love that old Santa. Just makes me think of my childhood in the 50's and 60's.

Cute! I'm paring down a lot of my winter stuff too to more natural things, less plastic and glitter...

And yes, where did you get the wire basket on the wall, & how big is that? Come on, answer girl! I'm looking for something similar...

That is a great Santa! I saw one like it recently, but it was ruined with a filthy face. Otherwise I would of bought it. That is so neat that it was your mom's!

The weather here in northern IL has been unseasonably warm and a little rainy, too. I don't like rain, but at least I don't have to shovel it! ;-)

Love your little village - so pretty. How cool that your kids have their own trees in their rooms with their ornaments on them. I think that's a great idea.

Nothing says nostalgia more than a snow village and a vintage Santa!

Hi Elaine,
Your decorations are beautiful.
We have scaled our decorating down over the last few years. No more decorations hanging from the ceiling for us...we're a little too old now.
Have a good day

Beautiful! I've just started collecting village pieces from Michael's myself and have mine on a bookcase. I think they look so comforting, glowing. It reminds me of the old English villages.Your house is looking lovely, thanks for sharing, Sally x

Its all so pretty, the village brings back memories. My mom always put together a village scene when I was a kid. I know what you meant about decorating the tree the way you want. My boys stood back and threw the lights at our tree this year, and wherever the hit is where they left them. It sure isn't going to win any decorating awards. LOL Thank your for linking up to the party this week over at the Cabin.
