How Does a Parent Ever Recover From This?

I think I just cannot bare the pain these poor families are dealing with. Why so many of these attacks? Why so many sick people? I get suicide I really do. If you are so miserable maybe you cannot deal with life but WHY WHY WHY do you have to hurt so many others? How does a parent ever recover from something like this? And the parents lost whose kids now have to go on without them. I am truly so saddened today.

  1. I have been trying to write a post since coming home from school; I have no words. As a mother...a teacher, my heart is breaking for the families of those small children, teachers... for humanity. Bonnie

  2. I am so devastated for this community. I got nothing done today because I've been too busy watching the coverage. But that's OK.....my daughter rode the bus home today from school, and I'm having a hard time letting her go....I keep hugging her!

  4. March 26, 2011 I lost my 27 year old son at the hands of a reckless driver. In answer to your question "you don't." It is hell on earth, it is hell to be so broken inside that nothing can put you back together, nothing can heal you, repair your family. You live in a new unfamiliar world, you distrust, you question, you crumble. My son would be getting on a plane in a week to come home for Christmas, he can't. When I heard the news today I crumbled for ever parent whose last thing they can give their beloved child is a funeral, a funeral for Christmas. pray for them, the power of prayer sends peace, I have found this through the early days after my loss. Bless you and have a loving holiday season! Lori

  5. The loss of a child no matter how he/she dies never leaves a parents hurting soul.. this shooting today I'm just without words except.. someone, somehow needs to put an end to the gun problem in America. Anyone can get a gun and use it as their power over others.
There are 20 little lives still laying on the floor of this school tonight while their parents just want to take them home but can't due to an investigation.. that must be beyond any pain on earth..

Can you imagaine one 767 crashing each week with 200 people on board.. well that is how many people die each week in America by guns and we don't even talk about it.. but the 767 would be on the news each week.
Sorry, I'm just beside myself tonight over this.
    God bless those little souls.

  6. This is so tragic :(

I dont know how you get over something like this, I guess you never do :(

We have had our own senseless tragedy in our community recently, all we can ask is why?

  7. So many young people with mental issues, not receiving right care and treatment, either undiagnosed, meds too expensive, parents in denial. That is key. Second, how in the hell do ordinary people get their hands on semi automatic rifles?? Really???? Govt needs to work on BOTH issues. More security at all schools, too. May they RIP, they will be spending Christmas with the Lord. xo

  10. This is such a tragedy. The thing is though, it is just a symptom of a very sick society.... the guns are only tools that are used. If it weren't a gun these sick individuals would use another weapon. It is impossible to understand why these things happen. May God's mercy, grace, and love be with these families. I am praying for comfort for these families and the healing of their hearts.

    Blessings,
    Amy Jo

  13. Such a devastating tragedy.

    Praying for peace and comfort.

At times like this, the best I can do, is to pray and lean on our Heavenly Father.....

  14. I lost a nephew to a senseless act of gun violence and know the parents never recover. Nor, does the whole family who now know it can happen to them. That this happened to babies is beyond comprehension. We need to find a way to stop this.

  17. I don't think they ever will get over it - never. Their lives will be altered forever. It actually affects all of us in a smaller way because forever in our minds is the fact that such a horrific tragedy could occur. Prayers for the families and friends of all directly affected, God love them all. Mary

  20. I was very sad to hear about this tragedy. I belive that parents can not get over that, never.
I am not an American, so I don't know if I can comment on this, but did you know that USA people make only 5% of world population, but at the same tome hold 50% of weapons(kept in private homes), also worldwide?

  21. I don't have that answer. I hope I never have to know. A friend of mine lost her son to suicide at 18. He shot himself and only himself. But the damage and sorrow was far reaching. I watched as his mother put her life back together through reaching out to her son's friends and comforting them. Six years later she still has monthly dinners on the date of his birthday with fluctuating numbers of young people coming to seek her comfort and in doing that she has healed. Such a different situation, this tragedy, but healing together is something we can offer these families. Ann

  23. I wrote a post about it that day and then after posting a 'normal" post this morning that I'd had in the works I posted about it again.....I dunno / I thought that if you still had your sunday party that I'd just post my prayer post...it is just so awful / maybe those of us that have it on our hearts should just do that if we want / it's so on our hearts and minds across the board / and the news and details just get more horrifying
