A New Blog on the Block

As many of you may or may not know I have been homeschooling my kids for almost 20 years. I have decided to start a homeschooling blog to share my journey as I start again with a four year old but also share what I have learned teaching my older kids, two who have gone onto college.

I think I have much to share and I know when I was starting out, the older moms gave me much needed support and advice and now I am here to do the same. Sharing my journey with my youngest will also be great fun. What will I do the same, what will I change.

I of course will still by busy blogging here at Sunny Simple Life but if you are interested in homeschooling or just want see what Q and I are up to, please follow along. Please come see my new blog Sunny Simple Homeschool. My first post is up today. Thanks.

Elaine, Great idea-I homeschooled my two daughters through junior/senior high and so glad I did. Now they both homeschool their children-my oldest has three currently that she teaches(but she is pregnant with #6)and my younger daughter teaches two out of five of hers. I will happily pass on the link to your new blog.

I'll be following you over there! Like you, I have been homeschooling for 20 years, have 2 that went on to college and have one left at home now (but she's 15, not 4 -- although sometimes we have our 3 and 5 yr old grandchildren over creating chaos). Hopping over to visit your other blog now . . . .

I think this is a great idea. We had lots of home schooled children in our church when our kids were growing up and I homeschooled our youngest all thru her school years. I truly loved the experience! Having a place to share questions, ideas and problems is such a help to those who do not have support groups available. I wish you great success!

Elaine, this is a terrific idea. It will be wonderful for you as a journal, and no doubt your wisdom will be great help to many others who are home schooling.

I've been away from the homeschooling scene fora about 61/2 -7 years...and now, starting next week, I will be having my 3 littles each and every day of the week! They are 4,3,2 (all about to turn a year older this year) I've sat down with my own Kids and they are thrilled that I will be homeschooling my grands! The laws in Texas are such that I can do this without any problems.
But...I feel so rusty and out of it...It's been years since I taught children so young!!!! so I can't wait to see what you're doing. I'm heading over now and am going to follow along! -Pat

Fellow seasoned homeschooler here! Wow, 20 years and you are starting over? Well, there just isn't anything else to do when there are more kids to educate, is there? :)

Wishing you many followers for your new blog! Thanks for sharing on Farm Girl Friday Blog Fest #15!

You know I'll be there! I'm in the same boat with you....we really have alot in common, don't we? I'm starting again with a 4 year old as well. :) And have one graduated through homeschool (he's almost 24) and Joy is almost 14. :)

On my way over to read your first post!

Happy Homeschooling!

Have you heard of Kahn Academy on You Tube? There are all kinds of classes on there too...it was talked about on one of the shows...or news last week. It started out he was just helping his niece long distance with her math I think. It's free....I think I may take a few classes just to brush up and keep my brain going! You're a pioneer if you've been doing it for 20 years! My daughter's a teacher but I am a student forever! I've always loved learning.

This is wonderful, Elaine! How I respect homeschool families. My unborn grandbaby is destined to be homeschooled already. My DIL was a homeschooler and my son is very supportive. How I wish when my boys were young that I had been able to homeschool. Unfortunately, I became a single Mom and had to work outside the home to support the three of us.
I'm sure your blog will provide a splendid amount of support to many homeschool parents.
Blessings to you, Elaine...This is a very important ministry!
