Back to School Decor

Every year we like to do something special to herald Back to School time.
This year the hubs made a special are for our youngest. Made of a chair given to us and a ruler trimmed chalkboard shelf found on clearance.

Though I don't want summer to end, we are ready are you? Do you do anything special to celebrate Back to School? Please share. I'd love to know.

  2. When the girls were in school, the first and last day of school, we had a tradition. I took them and one of their friends out to breakfast before going to the first and/or last day of school. It's amazing that they still remember that fondly.

  3. That chair is adorable! Back to school just reminds me the end of great summers at home with my parents, they were both school teachers.

  4. I noticed that cute chalkboard when I was at your house. I love it.
When my kids were little, and school started, I always had a party for the moms on the block. We would gather and everyone brought a different type of coffee cake or muffins, and we had coffee, and just gathered to chat and celebrate some of our freedom back for a few hours, that we would be having each day!!

  5. Oh I miss the first day of school. The first thing I did was the HAPPY DANCE!! I felt free and was ready to tackle the house! I felt like a new person by the time the kids got home! Funny that felt that way because by Spring, I was ready for them to be home.

  6. What a cute chair! I'm waay past the time of celebrating the first day of school, but on the other hand, my "baby" starts at university in a couple of weeks! Does that still count? lol

  8. As much as I loved my kids, school starting was a bit of freedom to do what I wanted without interruption. Alas, when my youngest started kindergarten I also went back to school on the same day. That year was a whole new ball game.

  10. Hmmmm.....celebrate the start of school.....I do love starting each year with a new class, but it is also very stressful and then I tend to get grumpy with everybody. Not fun - for me or my family.

And yet, I do have Back to School decorations that I usually put out in September. But I don't think I've done that since I've started blogging! I definitely will this year.

My daughter starts middle school next Thursday and I get a new crop of third graders the Thursday after that. YIKES!

  12. I always dread going back to school, as my garden is reaching it's peak of production. I'll have apples and nectarines to process soon, usually about the time I got back. Ugh.... never enough time...
