September Decor, Sights and Smells

Though it is still warm outside, this time of year we feel the need to change our decor. Warmer colors and scenes of cozy our what I feel like arranging in the house.

Yellows, golds, browns and reds are perfect this time of year and I just love those colors. I could dress in fall colors all year, but they sure really shine in September. I am anxious to get autumn decor out but I will wait and be content with lots of yellows and hold off on the pumpkins until October.

The garden still yields lots of tomatoes and I love seeing a bowl of them on the counter. Proof of my hard work and ready for lots of recipes with those little burst of sunshine. Don't you think tomatoes taste like sunshine in your mouth? So good.

The colors out back are changing. Gone are the reds and blues in the summer containers and this time of year I love warm colored zinnias, mums and bright green coleus.

Oh and all the good smells. I love the fall candles the most and my favorite candle has that apple spicy scent I love this time of year. Walmart also has some great candles for good prices and last week I found salted caramel by Glade and it was wonderful and only $2.99.

  4. Hi Elaine, I was just thinking that I need to pack away all my American and replace it with Harvest items.
I love all of yours-I have a Bee Skip too. Need to get the candles out but with temps being in the high 90's, I'm not quite ready yet.
Have a great Labor Day weekend.

  6. I agree, I am so ready to pull out some fall colors - yours look great, and yes tomatoes are the absolute, all-time greatest taste on earth (except for chocolate of course :)

  9. Beautiful autumn touches, but I'm not ready for fall at all! I will be waiting another 2-3 weeks to start decorating. It's still summer and I'm holding on to it as much as I can here in northern IL! (Because I know what dreaded season comes far too quickly and lasts far too long.) As far as candles, I can't burn them anymore unless they are all-natural ones. Those synthetic scents send my allergies through the roof and give me a headache!

  13. Your Fall decor is shaping up nicely, Elaine. I could easily have my home decorated for Fall all year round -- absolutely my favorite season. Even though we don't get an actual Fall season until some time in November, I simply could not wait that long. My Fall decorating is finished, and with the air-conditioner turned down, I can pretend things are less hot outside!

  14. I agree with you, I like to save the pumpkins for October and decorate with apples in September. In fact that's what I'm posting about tomorrow. Love all your pretty photos. Take care - Dawn @ We Call It Junkin
