Harvest Burlap Wreath Tutorial

Fall wreath tutorial, red door, fall decor, harvest decor

Along with my friend Patty, and with much guidance by her crafty hands, I made a harvest burlap wreath for the front door. I just love the way it came out and have prepared a tutorial in case you want to make one for your home.

We bought the wire ring and burlap ribbon at Hobby Lobby. Other items needed are small zip ties or wire, a variety of fall colored silk flowers. That is it. Now I am craft challenged but with Patty's crafty advice it really was very easy and took us maybe a half hour once we got going to make the harvest burlap wreath.

First unroll the small ribbon on top of the larger ribbon and then roll back up together. This made it much easier to feed the ribbon onto the wreath.

To begin squeeze the ribbons together and feed through the middle of the wire on the frame and secure the burlap onto the back of the frame.

Okay, you are ready to begin making the loops. We just made rounded loops, squeezed together the ribbons and then secured each section to the frame rotating to the outer edge, middle, inner and then back to the middle of the frame again. Each section was about 8 inches. We found we had extra with the rolls we bought. They were 15 feet so be generous to make sure the wreath fills out nicely.

Once we had each loop where we wanted them, we secured with the tiny zip ties.

Here is the back when I was done and before I fluffed it and placed the flowers on there. I chose a section that was a bit empty to place the flowers.

Once you are all done, trim the zip ties off.

I made up the flowers separately so I could remove it for Christmas and just replace it with seasonal colors.
I secured this bunch with a zip tie and then wired it onto the wreath.

Here is a peek at Patty's wreath, I chose oranges and reds and she chose more muted colors. I just love the way it turned out.
