Fairy gardens are a great family garden project and together we created our chicken coop fairy garden.
After the chickens left the coop, Q and put together a miniature version in fairy form to ease our sorrow. Online you can find loads of fairy garden ideas.
It really came out cute. I bought the coop at Country General Store and a sweet reader named Molly sent me the little chickens to finish off the garden but you can find so many fairy garden supplies online.
Who wouldn't love to tend chickens with a darling coop like this one complete with little flower pots in the window. A bucket at the ready to collect eggs and old fashioned wash tubs for doing a little laundry while the hens cluck about your feet.
1. Decide where you want to create your garden. Keep the space or container small until you build up your fairy garden supplies.
2. Gather your supplies and do a mock up of your fairy garden layout.
3. Choose a base. You can use stones, or soil but low growing compact ground covers make the best for an outdoor fairy garden.
4. Arrange and rearrange until your heart's content. At this point you can see what you need to add. We created the chicken coop fairy garden below in a rather small pot so it makes our collection look good sized.
We placed the chicken coop fairy garden in a terra cotta pot and added some Scotch moss and succulents for greenery. The fairies must have visited in the night and blessed us with the darling toad stools.
You can see some other professional fairy gardens here.
Oh this is so stinkin cute!!!I love fairy gardens and this one is so unique. The pots on the side of the coop are too cute. Love the moss too.

Darling, simply darling. I have been wanting to do this as well. I posted on my friend Teresa's fairy garden awhile back. I have been looking on Pinterest too at all the cute ideas. I even bought some tiny cobble stones/river rocks from the Dollar Store to use for mine if I ever get around to making one. The chipmunks have been digging around in my barrel of hens and chicks. I am sure they would love something else to destroy, grrrr
