These are some of my sunflowers from the front yard. The horrid offenders my neighbor hates. But rather than have her scoff and them leaning over the fence, I cut a bunch of them to enjoyed by us. I think they are my favorite summer cut flower.
In the morning with the sun shining brightly.
In the afternoon. What could be prettier. Some of the already developed seed heads went to the chickens.
I, too, think sunflowers are a wonderful summer flower. I am so sorry you neighbor is so offended by them. Bonnie

ReplyDeleteAs to going to the chickens; true story.
I planted a long row of these beauties; and when they started coming up, my chickens ate them. Didn't they know I was growing them a much tastier snack? Guess not. I have two plants left that will hopefully bloom soon. I'll give them the seeds then!

ReplyDeleteToo bad for your neighbor :( :( :( I think your sunflowers are really pretty and cheerful :) :) :) Love and hugs from the ocean shores of California, Heather :)
ReplyDeleteWhat pretty flowers Elaine! I love the sunny colors of sunflowers and always smile when I see them because they remind me of our neighbor. Not too long after we moved here, we began seeing sunflowers pop up all over our yard. We knew we didn't plant them and wondered where they came from. Finally my neighbor proudly admitted she sprinkled seeds all over the community because she liked sunflowers and wanted to see them on her daily walks.
ReplyDeleteNot only did she go to our house, but many people in the subdivision got a surprise that year. Even though my neighbor has since moved, each time I see sunflowers, I think of that story and smile.
Thanks for joining Your Cozy Home Party this week.
Beautiful! These are one of my favorite flowers!
