June Gloom

We have a type of weather in Southern California called June Gloom. Cloudy days where the marine layer comes in off the ocean and doesn't burn off until late afternoon. It can make for some dreary June mornings.
You wake up and the house is dark and not at all feeling like summer. Today I decided to bring some sunshine into the house.

If these don't wake you up and cheer you up even more than I don't know what would.

The mulit-branched sunflowers make the best cut flowers. I just love them as they are so prolific.

Sunshine in a jar!

  4. Love the sunflowers. They are lovely. Alas I do not have the sun needed to grow sunflowers. Thankfully I can get them at the farmer's market.

  6. We live just far enough inland from the coast that the gloom is only here in the very early morning (though it has been pretty foggy at night for some time now.) I kinda wish it lasted a little longer in the morning, actually, because I like the coolness =-) Your flowers are fantastic! I have that same vase/jar =-) I bought it at Avila Valley Barn in San Luis Obispo one year.
