I am anticipating the end of summer. Cooler weather, soups for supper simmering on the stove. Putting on my favorite sweater. Of course in SoCal that change can take a while to come but a girl can dream. Instead I have to make changes indoors that reflect my desire for fall weather.
Gone are all the bee themed goodies in this corner. Though I did keep my skep.
I am a woman torn. I love cottage and bright colors but I also adore prim decor and its warmth.
So I probably break all design rules and mix it all up in here. Who am I kidding. I don't think you think of design and my house in the same sentence.
This place is a constant work in progress with a very lived in feel. VERY lived in feel. But I do have fun dressing up the little nooks and crannies. That is the fun part.
I definately have a split personality in home decor. I am like a design Sybil! I love your shelf on the wall and your vignette is perfect....I am not even thinking about Fall decor YET!
ReplyDeleteThis looks very nice. I say chuck the design rules..do what you like, follow your gut feeling..it is always right. I have 2 bee skeps like this, love them! :D
ReplyDeleteComing over from BNOTP you are my after! Cute egg holder.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Julie...throw design rules out the window. You have your own distinctive personal design. And, as Martha would say....It's a good thing. We can only dream of an early autumn.....
ReplyDeleteLove your beautiful furnishings, especially that rooster lamp! I can't wait until fall either. However, living in New England, I know it's right around the corner.

ReplyDeleteHi Elaine,
ReplyDeleteEverything looks great! Love the sheep on the wall shelf. You don't have to follow any rules-do what makes you happy!

It looks wonderful to me. Just follower your heart and it will be perfect! I'm a new follower from Small Town USA
ReplyDeleteYour home looks just adorable! You do a beautiful job of mixing it up and it looks very nice. :o) I struggle with the same thing you do. I tend to lean toward more darker colors in the fall and softer colors the rest of the year. :o)
ReplyDeleteI am ready for fall. I think mixing it up with the things you love always works. This looks great!
ReplyDeleteOh how I want your farm fresh egg container! Love it all.
ReplyDeleteI think your style is very nice, it's very personal to you and you use such nice colors. I like it.
ReplyDeleteI am not looking forward to FAll yet, I am still reveling in Summer-time!
Hugs, Cindy
I am loving the lamp shade and the upholstery on that cute red chair. You asked about the quilt I had on my blog the other day. It came from Sears. It would look really cute with your color scheme. Looking forward to fall along with you :)

I think your little nook looks beautiful. I think there are "design rules" & then there are "natural instincts." My feeling is that if you go with your natural instincts, you are going to be much happier in your home & it's going to feel warm and inviting. That's my "MO" anyway!
ReplyDelete:) CAS
My "decor" is even more eclectic. I try to combine prim and whimsy.
ReplyDeleteI say you are doing a much better job than I do.
Lovin your farm fresh bucket did it come with the image?? I am new to your sight and just became your 500th follower!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunning display! Truly love every piece, and I can totally see why you'd be happy to share it with all of us! BRAVO! Can't wait to see more!
ReplyDeleteI hope you'll stop by my blog to check out my new feature. I've gone back to doing posts on my home, and I've got my newly styled "bar" in the dining room up. Would love to know what you think!

How sweet your little display is. Love the sheep particularly. I think your style is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI love that rooster lamp!
ReplyDeleteYou know you are speaking my kind of language here. Love it! Of course I spied that roo too.
ReplyDeleteI like your colorful cottage! Right here in S. IL your look is exactly the cottage look that is in style and I do like primitives too. My original love was the colonial style in 1976. I was 12 and we built a house and my Dad after a few years gave all of the decorating for Christmas to me. I tried as hard as I could to make it Colonial Williamsburg. That was the style of home we had too. Now as you can see by the French clock they have gone more global with the decorating.LOL But, I will always love a colonial style. Thanks for joining me at Home Sweet Home Elaine!
