Decorating with primitives.
I mentioned before my love of prim among other styles of decor so I thought I would share a little of my primitive decorating. From firkins to crocks, I love the rustic look of primitives and have them throughout a few rooms in my home. I have made a few fall touches this week so I thought I would share.
The warm colors always draw me but I have sort of a dark dining area which makes it hard to photograph.
This old sifter was picked up on our vacation.
We thought maybe we would paint all of our trim this putty color but have since decided it will probably go back to white. I love the look but our house is sort of dark so we want a lighter trim. Bummer because that was a lot of work but at the rate I get to projects it will be here a while.
I am lucky my hubby shares my love of primitive decor and helps me arrange things especially the high spaces as he is 6'4". No ladder required.
I love pumpkins and the colors of fall so this Wysocki hangs all year long. The antique dry sink was a coveted addition a couple of years ago. I wanted one so badly and when a local antique store was closing I was able to purchase it for half of the original asking price.
Love your prims! and that is a lovely piano! the curves on the top are beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteI agree, Ceekay,, lovely piano and you do "Prim" so well! You certainly have thetouch,
ReplyDeleteI love your prims. They are gorgeous. My home in Oregon years ago was all prims. I still have most of my tin cans and accessories, and still some furn pieces that I have no place for. Your dry sink is fabulous. You do such a beautiful job with your vignettes. Everything looks amazing. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteLove all your changes!! You are way ahead of me.
ReplyDeleteYour prims are wonderful. I especially like the first photo ... the herb can! Also, your little owl. Fun, delightful post! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteHI Elaine! We are back home! I love your trim, your fall decor, and your prims. I also love some prims, but my style is more geared to early Americana. I love antiques, and I love a comfortable home. So I buy what I like, and don't worry too much about style, and/or mixing it all in. It works for me. I think your style is similar.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Fall! I love pumpkins, and all of the rich colors of fall. I often wish I could just leave it all up year around. I am not a lover of Christmas, and always sort of dread to drag that decor out. I usually try to refrain from fall decorating until Sept. 01. Can't wait!!!
Your home looks so comfortable and homey. I want to come over and take a nap. And possibly eat cookies.
ReplyDeleteI just love your little rooster lamp. Where did you get it?
ReplyDeleteYour prim vignettes are great! I love the arrangement on the piano.
ReplyDeleteWe have liked primitive for so long, my husband is having trouble with the brighter farmhouse style I'm going for now. I am hoping I can get a good mix because I like all of it!
Elaine,
ReplyDeletelove all your prims. Fall is my favorite time of year, the colors are the best! Saw you had a Wysocki, I colledted his numbered prints for years when I lived in CA. I met him several times at a art gallery in Fountain Valley where I used to live. He came there once a year for signings. It was a lot of fun, I love his art!

Your primitives are so cute and homey. You really do have some wonderful furniture! I love the shape of your piano; we all play the piano at our house. I also love your grandfather clock, and the dry sink is great. My MIL has one very much like that. Thanks for sharing and Happy Seasonal Sunday.

Love the prim side! Nice decorating and feels very comfortable and inviting.
ReplyDeleteI love your displays, especially the one on the piano. And for what it's worth, I like your trim color, too! It's a light, pretty color. So if you don't get around to changing it back to white for awhile...at least it's still pretty in the meantime!
ReplyDelete:-)
great changes in all these photos...You really have some neat stuff to work with...
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
