Two new chicks are at home in the coop. A silkie and mille fleur d'uccle are what we brought home. Caring for these two has lessened the pain for my little one of loosing our dog.
Both of these are bantam breeds which means they will be small chickens.
This is the sweet silkie. Just a fluff ball. We hope they are both hens as these were only sold straight run and not sexed.
My youngest has had chicks three times now and can practically care for them on her own. It is amazing how careful she has become since we first brought chicks home. She gets it now and is very responsible with them though she wants to put the white one in her scooter basket and take it for a ride. I cautioned against that. The white one is Daphne and the brown one Millie.
This was lovely! I pinned it to my group children's garden/homesteading board and I invite you to pin there when you think you have something that would fit. Here's the link, if you're interested - you'll need to follow the board for me to send you an invite. http://www.pinterest.com/homesteadlady/childrens-gardenshomesteading/
ReplyDeleteHow precious! I have never had a silkie, or a mille fleur, but I have heard they are beautiful birds. We plan on getting our chicks some time later this week and I am so excited about it!
ReplyDeleteSo darling! I love their precious names!

Wish they stayed that little and cute. I look forward to watching them fit into your little urban farm.
