I know it is spring and a time of color and pastels, but in my dining room, I will always have a place in my heart for the shades of cream and brown. I love the muted colors of primitives. The warmth and down home feeling of old crocks and dishware. No matter the season, I will always have my browns.
Stacked boxes are a favorite. They top an old piano that was used and abused by my husband's grandfather. He always left his coffee cups sans coasters and it still bares the rings. I just hide them with things.
Crocks and a jug found at the thrift store.
This lovely was a gift from my mother in law last Christmas.
This was always on my grandmother's dresser. She had very little, a woman of simple means, so I am happy that I have a few reminders of hers.
Transferware. I am always on the hunt for more.

I agree browns and creams are still perfect for any season. The colors provide a homey yet posh effect. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteTogether with yellow it gives a warm atmosphere !
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful. I love your little lamp.
ReplyDeleteLovely vignette. Having, using, and enjoying family things are a wonderful tribute. I am fortunate to have many items from both sets of grandparents. It is comforting to sit down to the table always used at holiday times and so on, you know what I mean.
ReplyDeleteI love to see things that are passed down from one generation to the next used in a family's home... Things with special meaning, not just because it was the latest thing at the Home Goods (though I like those, too!). Very nice.
ReplyDeleteSo cozy and sentimental! Happy X Day!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love your country treasures! Having family treasures, in particular, always brings a warm feeling to your heart. I'm looking forward to more visits to your blog
ReplyDeleteI love "things" with stories. I think everything and everyone deserves a story. I love that the piano has evidence of its previous owners use.
ReplyDeletePerfectly lovely, no matter the season!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty. I have always loved transferware. Your mother in law gave you the perfect gift for your dining room!
ReplyDeleteI have been drawn to browns and sepias lately because several artists at Red Dot have been using them.
Beautiful browns in any season!
ReplyDeleteLovely post!
Happy X Day!

I love your country decor. I have always gone with the darker, more primitive colors, though I am trying to lighten up in the kitchen. I think we can have both, don't you?
ReplyDeleteI also have some brown and cream in my home. My kitchen is painted a chocolate brown with whitewashed cabinets. I decorate it cream and can add blues, pinks or yellows...brown/cream are easy colours to use as they go with so many colours.
ReplyDeleteHow special to be able to decorate with family keepsakes. It adds a history to your home.
I love that coffee pot. All of your treasures are lovely.
ReplyDeletelove the browns as well!
ReplyDeleteblessings to you,

I missed the X.
ReplyDeleteOh I love it. Cream and brown are always so inviting, and your room is stunning. Love all of your accessories. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteI also love warm and cozy browns.
ReplyDelete=)
We have one thing in common. I love earth tones and black. I need to wear brighter colors, but when shopping I tend to stick to black. I liked the way you are using your browns.
ReplyDeleteI also love the browns and creams - your pieces are so lovely. Love the brown transferware...what treasures.
ReplyDeleteI love brown too and agree that it can used any time of the year!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes,
Natasha.
I love browns! I have done my whole main floor in browns and we did my parent kitchen in browns. :o)

ReplyDeleteLove your pretty brown transferware.
ReplyDeleteWhat a warm and wonderful room. I like the little bits of color against a neutral palette...soothing and surprising...a perfect combination.
