Christmas Wrap-Up

We had a wonderful holiday with lots of visiting. good food and laughs. Below is my nephew that I was so thrilled have for a couple of nights. There are just people you love so much and they light up a room. He is one of them. He gave me the best gift with his visit. Something must be wrong with me as I am not going to the Country General Store after Christmas sale. I go every year but last night I told hubby I have enough Christmas stuff and can't add one more thing and I am tired and am going to stay in my sweats all day and play with the kids, edit some of our pictures (erasing the ones where I have ten chins).  I have already made playdough soup this morning so I am on track to spend the day not doing much of anything.

Christmas Eve was at our friend's annual party. Here Q is rocking the party with some drums.

I gave the kids the Just Dance game. It was a hit but it is harder than you'd think or I am just that lame? Not sure.

Funny hats were popular this year. This one made the rounds.

Here it is on grandpa. Hmm which one does it look cuter on.

Early Christmas morning. Santa has been here and just waiting for the kids to rise. They always sleep in and we wake them cause we can't wait any longer. Hubby brews some coffee and the moments before the opening begins is what all the work was about. Good job moms and dads. We all made another Christmas happen for our kids.

My husband always says, "There's another Christmas in the books." Here we are tired but happy that we had a wonderful time and all went well.

My heart was torn over the holiday as my brother's step daughter, who is dying of cancer, has just been taken off life support. We spent the holiday with loved ones and enjoying good times while my poor sister in law is doing what must be the hardest thing ever, saying goodbye to a child. Say a prayer that she can recover from this. I mean are you ever the same after that? I pray her family and kids find some peace after it is all over. Such a hard time for them.

  2. First Elaine, you are absolutely beautiful and should not have to edit any photos of you! Second, no I don't think you'd ever be the same. I'm so sorry for the family. I did a lot of stories in my journalism days. Some were of mothers grieving. Hard to watch. Can't imagine how hard it is to live it. Hardest thing a mother could do.

  8. What a wonderful Christmas!!! I have a nephew like that, and actually, he and his brother both, are very near and dear to us. He is the one who was visiting from the bay area and came to our enchilada making party. You look wonderful in those photos! You are such a natural beauty!! I didn't go to any sales either. Just taking it easy around here, and going to see a movie in a bit with my husband.
I am so very sorry for your brother and sister in law. It is such a horrible thing. My husband lost his brother, and so I know, that they will never be the same again. But time will heal them some. Prayers to them.
    Hugs,
    Kris

I am glad Santa made it your house with all the bad weather and all...lol! What a great picture of you and hubby. I would definitely have that one framed. The only thing I'm on the look out for are great looking storage bins. I may sneak out to Lowes and Home Goods today if I get a second. Enjoy your day off and I will talk to you soon. Patty

  18. Elaine- What a beautiful family...and wonderful post. I know the joy that is intermingled with sadness on these Holidays. MyHero is a chaplain at a local hospital and got called in 3 times on Christmas Day as someone in different families were passing. The passing of an older person is expected and not nearly as hard as that of a young person leaving for the other shore. God bless your family as you travel this path. xo Diana

  20. How difficult it must have been to be having a wonderful Christmas with your family while in the back of your mind knowing that there is sorrow in another part of your family...and at Christmas no less!!
I think that losing a child is probably the hardest loss that a family can face. My heart goes out to your brother's family.
