Sending a Little Californy Sunshine

My daughter and I spent the day cleaning up under the orange trees. Pretty soon the blossoms will be blooming so we headed out to pick some oranges for juice tomorrow morning.

I just loved this shot with the sun shining through the tree leaves.

It is warm here. Warm for us in January. Been in the 70s and 80s one day this week. Dry and breezy. Pretty much perfect. If you need some let me know and I will send you some of our Californy sunshine and warmth special delivery. Or better yet come by and I will give you a bag to pick oranges and you can take the sunshine home with you. I ain't kidding.

There's those blossoms. Once they bloom the bees are in control and I hate picking the oranges then.
You have to wait until the evening when they leave for the day.

I am eating a Hershey's kiss as I type this but see I was good earlier. Made myself a healthy lunch. Mmm pickled eggs. They are the best.

  1. Oh please send some sunshine our way. I'll pay the express post cost, LOL.

For me, a girl from the land of "Snow n'go" to living in "it's here for almost half the year", this is some adjustment.

Those oranges look pretty tempting, even if I would have to beat off the bees....

Beautiful shots, just what I needed after a night of another snow fall.

  3. Good morning Elaine! I have been awfully busy here in the house and missed your last couple of posts, so I will do all of my comments here on this one. Aren't the oranges wonderful? We have fresh juice every day! And when they bloom in March, the fragrance is divine! Those marshmallows are adorable. I will have to look for them. I love to have tea in a pretty tea cup too! And little Q!!! Oh she stole my heart when I met her. I just want to scoop her up and give her a squeeze. She and my grands would have such fun together!!!!
Have a great Californy Sunshiney day!!!
    Hugs,
    Kris

  6. I have always wanted an orange tree in my yard, but have a meyers lemon tree instead. My new favorite is putting slices of oranges in a glass or iced tea or cup of hot tea. Lunch looks great. What time? Blessings

  9. Hasn't our weather been crazy here in So Cal? The wind has been brutal over my way and so glad it has stopped. My orange tree is loaded, as well as the tangerine, which the squirrels love to eat! Annette T

  12. Our sermon yesterday was about covetousness. I guess I'm being tested on whether I paid attention.
    Ha!

Seriously, I would love your orange trees. We have some sunshine here, but nothing like in "Californy".

  13. Ohhhh....its a whole different world in sunny Cali. Here in Baltimore it is ugly and dreary. Even my houseplants are feeling it.
    Your oranges look fantastic.

  14. Our weather is almost a perfect match for yours lately, except a little cooler I think. I love the smell of Orange Blossoms. We used to have a wonderful grapefruit tree in our backyard whose blossoms also were sweet. You are right about the bees! Your oranges look delicious. Ann

  18. I love this post--your sunny life is a dream, and you make me see myself living in an enchanted orange grove under a warm sun. How delightful! thanks for making me dream and for bringing me here to this warm sunny space in a dark cold night by participating in our Show Off Your Cottage Monday.

  19. I took a chance to stop by and finally my computer didn't lock up. Yay! I'll be getting my new computer probably at the end of this week, so hopefully I'll be able to visit you more often.

Send ME some of those sunny skies. The temperature doesn't bother me so much, but we've seen nothing but gray skies and just sticks for trees for so long that color and brighten sounds really nice right now.

Sounds totally fun to have oranges on your own property. Obviously, we don't get that in the south!

Thanks for sharing this cheery post on my party Elaine. I know I haven't always been able to comment, but I really appreciate that you continue to stopy by my blog and say hello anyway.
