I have been tucking my new things from my birthday here and there in the kitchen. I just love to decorate in here. It is my place in this world.

I think I have my hubby convinced I need chickens. The feed store is supposed to get them on Thursday. Oh I can't wait to bring them home. I feel like I am getting a new baby. Crazy.

This card Patty made me for my birthday is gorgeous I just have to display and enjoy it. Found the perfect spot for it.

When I was out with the gals shopping I bought this old red drainer. My family could just not understand why. Well because it is old and RED of course. I tried to figure out where I could use it. For now it is corraling my grocery ads, shopping clipboard and my pencil bucket. I like it even if the family cannot understand why. The slots make a perfect place to hold some files or papers.

  3. That is a beautiful card that Patty made for you. I love the dish drainer. I have one in aqua and I use it in my sewing room to hold my rulers and dies for my accu quilter. It is every so handy. I also have a mason jar in there filled with rice to hold pens and tools. I can't wait to see what you get at the feed store. How many are you planning to get?

  10. You will love your little chickies! They are so pleasant and soothing to watch -- better than an aquarium. Just make sure you have a good secure place to keep them once they are big enough -- they will do a number on your garden and pots if you don't have them in their own place in the yard.

  11. I think we could easily move into each other's kitchens! Good luck with the chickens ... I keep thinking I want some, but when coyotes wake me up like they did last night, I'm pretty sure I would never rest easy!

  20. I just love your kitchen, it always puts a smile on my face. The creamers are adorable. By the way, I say go for the chickens, I've always had chickens and they are just a joy to have. Not only do I get fresh eggs everyday but they entertain me as well. Currently I have a Rhode Island Red named Maggie, she's kind of the mother hen of the bunch, keeping watch over everyboday and lays brown eggs. Then there's Tillie and Goldie the golden Buff Orpingtons, so fluffy and cute laying light brown eggs. Betty the Amerucana lays light Blue eggs, they call them Easter Eggers, love it! Finishing off the flock we have two new White Leghorns who are still nameless, (shameful), they lay HUGE white eggs. Love those chickens :)

  22. You do not sound like a
California lady. More like where I was born and raised - on a farm. I always wanted to gather the eggs. My sisters did not as they were afraid they would get pecked. You are using your vintage finds in a perfect fashion. Great job.

  40. You have some really sweet vintage items. I like the shelf with the old red wood handles as brackets. Great idea! I also like the child's stove. When I was little we had a 3 piece set - fridge, stove and sink cabinet that worked - all made of metal. Have a great day! Pamela
