Why you goof off with your dining room table of course. Grabbing this and that and toning down the July 4th decor. A few flags still are appropriate as soon we will be doing some back to school decorating. My daughter starts on August 15th. UnAmerican to start school in the dead of summer.
We eat dinners out here so I have been keeping things more simple. I decided to keep a salt and pepper shaker and napkins out here all the time and just add them to my wooden box. Keeps dinner time set up more simplified. I lit my favorite candle and called it good. I think I watched a movie after that.
Sounds like a good come back plan! Very pretty setting Elaine.
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling you love doing this sort of thing :) And you do such a good job of it. Love the simplicity in your setting...blessings
ReplyDeleteYou seem to know how to turn lemons into lemonade!(...as Mom always says)
ReplyDeleteI bought some of those candles last fall after you said it is your favorite scent. I love them! They ended up also being some of the Christmas gifts I gave my friends last year. :0)
Blessings,
Leslie
oh, i love the glow of the candle. so pretty. nice & quiet it looks. i was thinking the same thing ... we never started school before labor day. so odd??! is that something new? are they hoping for more vacation days, sick days or bad weather days? i wonder?!? ha. ha!! (:
ReplyDeleteSounds like the perfect way to spend a quiet evening. Love candles!
ReplyDeletewhat a beautiful setting you have created, very romantic,
ReplyDeleteLOVE it -- school starts in August in this part of the country -- not what I was used to growing up in Southern CA -- we always started mid-September and went to near the end of June. Here the schools let out the week before Mother's day.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Gail
It's perfect! And makes a beautiful photo. :-)
ReplyDeleteI like simple!! Very cozy looking!
ReplyDeleteHi Elaine, Just got to say I love every detail, especially the tray. You are so talented! I've left my 4th decorations up for labor day and then I'll use apples etc for back to school(even though I don't have kids at home)and for autumn.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
Noreen
a lit candle and bit of redecorating always refreshes the soul....lovely display
ReplyDeleteI love the calm that a candle brings. The centerpiece looks pretty. Back to school.. BLAH!! not looking forward to it!!!
ReplyDeleteOR you could find a different date. ;-)
ReplyDeleteSorry your hubby got called into work overnight, but maybe you needed some relaxing "me" time since you've been experiencing that mental fatigue. I just now read that post too, and I hear you loud and clear! On days when I'm home and the phone rings more than once, I usually say out loud (to no one, lol) - "NOW who?!"
ReplyDeleteLooks like a plan to me. I love the sweet simplicity of it all- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteCenter piece looks great. I love the glow of candles.
ReplyDeleteI am being stood-up tonight *sadface* Business :/
ReplyDeleteI need to get my house in order!!! I am in panic mode right now!
You know...There's just something comforting about fluffing one's nest a little.
ReplyDeleteI love your tidy table arrangement...It warms my heart.
I hope your next dinner date is a charmer!
Smiles,
Carolynn
