What to Do When Your Date Cancels for Saturday Night

Why you goof off with your dining room table of course. Grabbing this and that and toning down the July 4th decor. A few flags still are appropriate as soon we will be doing some back to school decorating. My daughter starts on August 15th. UnAmerican to start school in the dead of summer.

We eat dinners out here so I have been keeping things more simple. I decided to keep a salt and pepper shaker and napkins out here all the time and just add them to my wooden box. Keeps dinner time set up more simplified. I lit my favorite candle and called it good. I think I watched a movie after that.

  3. You seem to know how to turn lemons into lemonade!(...as Mom always says)
I bought some of those candles last fall after you said it is your favorite scent. I love them! They ended up also being some of the Christmas gifts I gave my friends last year. :0)

  7. LOVE it -- school starts in August in this part of the country -- not what I was used to growing up in Southern CA -- we always started mid-September and went to near the end of June. Here the schools let out the week before Mother's day.

    Blessings!

  10. Hi Elaine, Just got to say I love every detail, especially the tray. You are so talented! I've left my 4th decorations up for labor day and then I'll use apples etc for back to school(even though I don't have kids at home)and for autumn.
    Thanks for sharing!

  14. Sorry your hubby got called into work overnight, but maybe you needed some relaxing "me" time since you've been experiencing that mental fatigue. I just now read that post too, and I hear you loud and clear! On days when I'm home and the phone rings more than once, I usually say out loud (to no one, lol) - "NOW who?!"
