First, many thanks to you for such nice comments on my previous post. Life is full of highs and lows and we must relish the good days. The simple things like going to the market and caring for our families. These are not days of drudgery but of joy. I am thankful to have such a great place to come and share thoughts and get such wonderful responses from like minded friends. So thank you.
Well, I looked at the calendar and can you see it? We are about to turn the page on August and to me, September 1st is Autumn to me. It may be 100 outside but in the house we will get ready for fall. After I posted yesterday, I just needed to process my thoughts and decided to tuck away some summer decor and pull out the fall things. I need to tweak it some but for now I am relishing my favorite decor, those warm colors I love the best.

Life is filled with ups and downs, isn't it? Sorry about your trip but glad you can be there for your hubby's friend, it must be so devastating for everyone. Hugs ~ Mary
ReplyDeleteHi Elaine....I identify with so many of your thoughts. It IS wonderful that we have our blogland friends to reach out to anytime we want. It's like having an entire legion of soul mates.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry for your husband's friend and his wife's terminal illness. Situations like that make us grateful for all we have.
Like you, I'm maxed out on buying "stuff." Need to get RID of stuff before replacing it. Still, I LOVE to shop. It's sooooo much fun. hee hee
Hope you have a great day today. It's cool and sunny here in western Massachusetts. My favorite kind of weather. Susan
Hi Elaine, Firstly I love all your fall decorations. I'm being slow getting mine out but may have to start this weekend.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry for your friend and his wife being near the end. Having walked though hospicing my sister through her last months, weeks, days and hours, I can tell you just being there for your hubby's friend will help.
Sending hugs to you today.
Noreen
Your Autumn decor is beautiful, it makes me wish for fall weather so badly. Yesterday was in the 90's and today is supposed to be cooler and it is.
ReplyDeleteI probably won't decorate for fall until October 1st. We'll see.
Hugs, Cindy
Elaine - I love your banner for fall. That's so neat. Looks like you are gearing up for autumn.

I love seeing everyone's fall coming out. I have cleared the summer, and made room the fall. But still have not gotten it down from the rafters. I will be thinking of your friend this weekend.

You do rich colours so well! How are the chickens holding up in the heat? ~ Maureen
ReplyDeleteI am nearly giddy at the excitment of Fall just being around the corner!

I love your center piece.
ReplyDeleteLots of ups and downs in real life. If people say there aren't they aren't really living in the REAL world. I am ready to get ready for Fall!;>) xo Diana
ReplyDeleteI think this is the first year I've ever said I was ready for summer to be over. Enough with the heat already. I want to open my windows. Your autumn decor is putting me in a better frame of mind!
ReplyDeleteThe first of September is the start of Fall for me too and I'm so ready for cooler days. Love your autumn sign and the woolie pumpkins in the bowl.
ReplyDeleteKeeping your friend's family in my prayers.
Cindy
I have been supported and lifted up by my blogging friends. I don't know what I would do with out all of you! hugs, Linda
ReplyDeleteAs much as I love Autumn, I'm just not quite ready to start decorating for it so my summer decor will be out for a few more weeks. Heck, I never took down the Spring decorations this year!! talk about an eclectic look :)
ReplyDeleteI posted about my anticipation of autumn on my blog yesterday as well. Your decor is lovely!
ReplyDeleteI remember form my time living in Southern California how hot September was there. I was always so ready for a bit of a cool down. Having a touch of fall inside is perfect.

This is the first autumn post I've read and the colors are just perfect. So comforting an a homey kind of way. Indeed my favorite season.
ReplyDeleteI love to come to your blog and read what you are thinking and doing. I believe your heart is in the right place and it is a comfort to know that there are still people who care.
ReplyDeleteThe goal and bottom line is family health and happiness and I think your blog centers around that most of all.
(((HUGS))) Susanne :)
I love how you are always "on top" of the season. So prepared...organized!
ReplyDeleteHere in Maine summer is definitely over once Labor Day weekend is past. Already we sense the changes, and it makes me wonder where the summer went.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear about your husband's best friend's wife. How terribly sad...
ReplyDeleteMakes you appreciate your life even more, doesn't it?
Hi Elaine,
ReplyDeleteYour home is so cozy and welcoming. I can hardly believe the summer is behind us. As much as I love decorating with red, it's always fun to bring out the harvest colors adding them to the mix. Your tablecloth is so festive and how I love all your Fall touches.
Blessings, my friend,
Carolynn xo
I like your Fall decoration, I even pinned one on one of my Pinterest boards.
ReplyDeleteBtw, even your chairs match the Fall colors :-).
Goedele
Cute touches of Fall, you've got there.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing :)
