While the heat of August has settled in, our house has been struck by a summer cold. Three down this last week and boy has it been a doozy.
We have been staying home for the most part and I am busy with the chickens and my back to school house preparations. I hate for any of my loves to be sick but I never turn down an opportunity to stay home and hunker down. Car hasn't left the drive all day. We did run some errands yesterday, the hubby and I. We reorganized a lot of our food storage and are really trying to stock up as I see another hike in food prices coming real soon with the severe drought conditions. I will share a post on what we have done later this week. I am sharing at Cozy Little House Tweak it Tuesday.
Summer colds are not any fun! Who wants to bundle up and drink hot tea when it's in the 90s?
ReplyDeleteI hope your family begins to feel back in the pink soon!
I just love your charming sense of style, Elaine. Each one of your vignettes speak of "Home Sweet Home"!
Thanks for the hint about potential rising food prices...I need to stock up, too.
Blessings,
Carolynn :)
Sorry about the sickness:( I hope everyone gets better soon.
ReplyDeleteI love the home decor you featured! I always see those pretty hand made looking tapered candles in stores, but you bring them to life in your vingette. It looks so cozy!
Blessings,
Leslie
I'm sorry to hear that your family has been hit by a summer cold, I hope they get well soon.I went to read your cold fighting tactics and I like what I read, I'm going to get some of the lozenges to keep on hand!!! The raise in food prices is scary, there has been so much drought in southern ontario, thats where most of our food comes from, our prices are going up as well here in Canada, and of course alot of our food comes from the united States so we are all in trouble.Take care Elaine,
ReplyDeleteHi Elaine! Oh, I'm so sorry to hear your family is suffering like this! Summer colds are just the worse! There are allergies killing everyone around here! Ugh!
ReplyDeleteTake care and I hope all are better soon.
My daughter and her family have all had terrible summer colds this year- so far I have not been touched by one. I hope everyone there is better soon- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteSo sorry you all are having summer colds! I have a little sniffly 4 year old around here right now. :( I remember reading your cold remedies...I think on Pinterest from someone! :) Thanks for participating in Pinned it, Made it! Monday.

Sorry to hear your family is sick. I can't remember the last time I had a cold either, but I try to stay at home when I know there is an epidemic of colds and the flu going around.
ReplyDeleteMy family has been stocking up for the last few years as we have watched the food prices rise. Seems each month the costs rise a little more while the amounts in the box shrinks a lot. Sometimes I seriously question how people who are already financially struggling are affording to eat these days.
Sorry about the rotten summer colds Elaine! Hope they are all up and at em' in no time!!!
ReplyDeleteXO Kris

I started feeling relly ill Saturday after a friends party.Itchy eyes, burning, headache, lathargic, with a runny nose, cough and scratchy sore throat...agggghhh. I will pray for y'all...Hugs, Mica

ReplyDeleteHope everyone is feeling better soon.
It's wise for you to work on your food storage.
I'm afraid that prices will soar this Fall.
I'm trying to preserve everything I can from our gardens.
We've had "IT" aka The Crud as well - just now getting over it.

Yes, we are already seeing hikes in prices. Having lived out in the country most of our lives, stocking up is second nature.:-)

ReplyDeleteSorry about the colds in your house. You know I can't get out, but people are telling me grocery prices are shooting way up.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
I detest a summer cold. I do hope he recovers soon. I just saw a news report that chicken is going up because chicken feed is scarce because of drought.
ReplyDeleteLovely vignettes! Hope everyone gets to feeling better...really soon. We have chickens, too! Several chicks hatched this week.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear that family members have colds ~ that's not fun at all. I hope everyone feels better soon. Love your cold fighting tips and will give them a try if I feel like a cold is coming on.

ReplyDeleteTry some vitamin D on a regular basis, about 2000 ius daily, it really strengthens your immune system and is good for us gals and our bones...
ReplyDeleteHI Elaine,
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear the cold in the family. That's really not good. We have the same problem.
But talking bout you vignettes and your collections, the brown chicken catches my heart and I wish I could own 1 like that.
Take care and relax.
Hugs from rainy Stockholm,

Summer colds always seem worse than winter ones. I think maybe for us here in AZ, it's because our weather is so blasted hot in the summer that it's hard to "cozy up" even though that's what you really want to do. Anyway, I hope everyone gets back to their healthy selves soon.
ReplyDeleteSummer colds are worse than winter, your miserable and it's hot, which make you feel worse.Sorry you family is feeling under the weather, hope everyone starts feeling better soon!
