The New Chicken Fence

Chicken coop panel fence from Lowes.
Several folks have asked questions about the new fence for the chicken run so here are all the details and good look.

We were in Lowes on Sunday to get a compost bin and saw this premade fencing and knew it would be perfect for our yard. We were prepared to have a fence installed and spend hundreds but this was so much cheaper.

Portable poultry fencing

It comes in two panel sections with the anchors you need. We spent $109 for all the fencing. We did leave the other fence posts in for added stability. The chickens never flew over the last fence so I knew this would be high enough. Also, we have not had any predator problems so it is not covered. The girls get locked up in the coop every evening.

It comes in black and green and I just love the leaf detail.

Small chicken coop, barred rock chicken

Hubby just left the end piece  unanchored and I lift it to swing open. We did leave some chicken wire in the very back planter but plan to buy one more set of panels to finish that off.

The view from inside my den. I like that it coordinates with the colors of the swing set and I can still see the chickens and if we want to take it out or move it, we just pull it up.

Updated 5/23/17: We no longer have the chickens but use the fence around our front yard vegetable garden. Held up so well. See it here.

  18. Those chickens have it made! What a lovely fencing and everything looks so neat and clean. I see how pretty everything is in sunny California and this is the time of year I hate living in Ohio. The weather man showed the map of the US and of course everywhere the weather is so much warmer and we are in the 30's and 40's with rain and snow expected by tomorrow evening. DEPRESSING!

  19. I love this!! We have stray dogs around here so our coop has 8 feet fencing. I wish we could have a gate like that. It's beautiful.

  20. Your fence looks great. I'm almost a wee bit jalousie because all I have is a wire fence (and it's not even up). Don't the hens fly over the fence?

  21. Hi Elaine,
What a neat as a pin shady home you have provided for your chicks. It's so nice to look at. Your fencing is so ornate with the green leafy vines. It looks so very cottagey.
Thank you for sharing your girls new digs.
    Smiles,

  23. Babajeeza no they hens have never flown over the fence or the old one we had. I think they are too fat and spoiled. I do let them roam every morning.

  26. Hi Elaine, I’m Anne from Life on the Funny Farm (http://annesfunnyfarm.blogspot.com), and I’m visiting from the Farmgirl Friday Blog Hop.

This looks fantastic! What a wonderful idea. I've been wanting to put up some fencing around my veggie garden to let my girls till it up before planting, and this might be just the thing.

Anyway, thanks for posting this. If you ever get a chance, stop over to my blog to say hi! Have a great day…

  29. I am so inspired every time I see your coop and can't wait to be in the club! That fencing is so cute! I wish we could use that, but we will have to build an enclosed run because of all the predators we have here in the city. Lots of hawks right now, feral cats, and gigantic raccoons. We are like you guys, bouncing between inside and outside projects and I am so sore :) All I really want to do is sit outside and have a Guinness, haha. Hope you guys have a great St Pat's day and enjoy your corned beef!
