Growing Strawberries, Ideas for the Spring Garden

This time of year this is me! I am in the garden. Right now I am potting up strawberries and making more plans for my spring garden.

Rolie polies are munching on my strawberries so I potting up a bunch of strawberry starts and putting straw underneath the rest. I want to harvest some for the humans.

The bees are buzzing like crazy cause the orange trees are in bloom and this basil draws them. It is the best pollinator plant I have ever had.

I snapped this view looking out of my screen in my bedroom. The jasmine is in full bloom and my room smells like Heaven.

But for right now the house is quiet and I have my coffee and my newest magazine so I am plotting and planning some more ideas for my spring garden.

  1. Two years ago the chipmunks took one, solitary bite out of each of our bumper crop of strawberries just as they ripened. We got one or two. Last year hubby set out live traps and...disposed of the dastardly little scoundrels and we enjoyed all of the berries ourselves. One must protect the berries! I am sooo looking forward to green and the berry patch and planting our garden this year!

  2. My strawberries will be coming in in late June. They were small last year, but the sweetest ever! Can't wait!

  7. I am so so so very jealous. We have record low temps and windage off the bay that is causing all kinds of havoc here. It is so nice to know that it is green and wonderful somewhere. xo Diana

  11. I've tried to grow strawberries for the last two years, but the chipmunks get into them and when they're ready to be picked - a little critter has gotten to them first!! They don't bother my tomatoes - so I just to growing them.

  12. So jealous that it is spring where you are. We are still buried under over a foot of snow here. 2 more months until I can even start planting my spring veggies.
