Are you and your family prepared in any way at all for a disaster? Hurricane Harvey should be a warning to us all to get ourselves in gear and get prepared for being on our own in the case of disaster.
I know many folks were flooded out and this may not apply, but the vast majority of people in Texas were not flooded out but are on their own, cut off from the ability to get out of their neighborhoods.

Excellent post. This has been in our minds for a long time and we are prepared. We have stocked up on extras and some for neighbors just in case. If we have a MAJOR earthquake, we may be on our own for 2-3 months. Also, people need to think of their animals. In our case it's 5 dogs and a flock of chickens. We are water and feed prepared. So glad you said we need to do without some luxuries and prepare for an emergency. If it doesn't happen, great. If it does, great we are prepared. We donated to Samaritans Pause.
