A Simple Memorial Day - The Highlights

We worked in the house all weekend painting and hubby hanging my sexy crown molding. I mean my sexy hubby hanging crown molding. Well either way it is up. Anyway we have a family tradition of a BBQ, fun and  RIBS on Memorial Day so I had to pull it off. Usually I bake a cake but this year Loft House cookies were center stage.

patriotic cookies

Some ribbon from Michael's made an easy hair bow. Just had to shoot the back of her sweet little head.

No fancy centerpieces this year just some flags stuck in my pots.
memorial day, patriotic garden decor

Water balloons at the ready. $1 from Target. Cheap fun.

Grabbing some color with my oldest.

And the best part of the day. RIBS.

The carnage.

Even though I didn't have my prep time that I normally do this day was still special. The kids said the funnest ever since we all pelted one another with water balloons and then the hose. What our neighbors must think.
You don't have to spend much to make awesome memories for sure.

  1. First of all, I share your philosophies so wholeheartedly! Loved seeing pics of YOU, with your family! Loved your Freudian slip when talking about your sexy crown molding!!! (MAN, I want some too, crown molding, that is) and I loved your menu, and entertainment lineup! Perfect!!! I bought those Loft House cookies this weekend too. Usually I would cook, and make something special to take to the pig roast, but I wasn't feelin' it this year with my hubby gone and all.
    Loved this post!

  4. Those ribs look amazing! I love the Loft House cookies. I call them sick cookies because they are so sweet and I eat so many they make me sick. "Hey Honey, while you're at the store, pick up some of those sick cookies!" He knows what I'm talking about.

  11. Is that how you cleaned up after eating those sticky ribs? With water balloons?! Looks like your family had a great day. Oh, and I keep telling everyone that I want a sexy path leading from the house to the street. They look at me funny, but that's what John Gidding on Curb Appeal calls a curvy path!
    Happy REDnesday,
    Carol
