Ideas to Use All Those Tomatoes

Ways to use all those summer tomatoes.

These are just what my hubby picked yesterday. We also have a couple of bowls on the kitchen counter so today is going to be crockpot sauce day.

Every summer I make a pot of this and I am able to freeze it in batches plus we have spaghetti for dinner the night I make it. So fresh and wonderful tasting. It is easy and my instructions for making homemade spaghetti sauce are here.

I am also going to make a batch of homemade salsa. Just fresh ingredients chopped and mixed. So easy.

Here is the recipe for my homemade salsa.

  3. Good idea Elaine. Our volunteer tomatoes appear to have bottom rot-they are doomed.

  5. I could have used these recipes last week...while you were vacationing! My spaghetti sauce smelled good. I canned two quarts is all while making jam last week...I tasted it and it seems good too. But it isn't as pretty as yours!

I'll have to try this recipe as we are still getting tomatoes from the garden!

  14. I'd love to try your salsa recipe, but I'm having trouble finding it. I was able to click on your post "Salsa Anyone?" but I can't seem to access it. I must be missing something. It looks so yummy! Thank you for all your tips and recipes--you have a really sweet blog. :)

  15. Last year I did have tomatoes but couldn't keep up with all of them so I threw some in bags and froze as is. They're still there and I think I'll try your crockpot sauce and see if it works for them. I'll let you know! I hope it does as I'd hate to waste it all but I've heard of people freezing tomatoes for things like that....I'll see!
