What to Buy This Month - February Grocery Sales Cycles

What grocery items are on sale in February in the grocery sales cycles.. These are food items to stock up on in February.
stock up, groceries

It is national hot breakfast month so I am seeing a lot of sales on all things breakfast.
Time to stock up on cereals. My buy price for a box of cereal is $1.50. If I find it lower than that than     it is a stock up price.
  Granola bars
  Hot Cereals
Frozen waffles (Make them yourself though and they will be cheaper. You can even freeze extras for     later and pop them in the toaster)

Because of Chinese New Year look for sales on Asian food items like soy sauce. This is a great time     to stockpile items for easy stir fries. Try my Hawaiian fried rice recipe or my Easy Asian Noodle         Salad.

I have been noticing lots of sales on pasta still around .99 sale price.
The lowest I have ever seen it is .48 per lb. two weeks ago at Food 4 Less. That is definitely a stock  up price around here where .99 cents is the normal sale price. I will buy twenty pounds as we eat lots  of pasta dishes. It helps spread the protein around I always say. Meat is the condiment these days........

I am updating this to add that February is National canned food month. Time to take advantage of this     grocery sale cycle and follow my tips for saving money with canned foods.
I am a fairly frugal cook. Check out my recipes page some of our favorites.

  1. Happy Valentine's Day! The pasta dish looks great. Which recipe is it? I am sharing vintage Valentine's Day cards today. Stop by for a visit!
Many blessings from Still Woods Farmhouse

  2. Sorry about that. It is for Notsagna in the making.

  3. I would eat that pasta right out of the pot, it looks great! I enjoy these posts and find them very helpful. Happy Valentine's day. xo

  4. Hi Elaine. Where did you see the pasta at that price?

  5. Sorry that sounded like this week but it was two weeks ago at Food 4 Less. I just was saying the lowest I have ever found it.

  6. Elaine, I did not know that it was hot breakfast month. What a great idea! I do love oatmeal.

Thank you for the shopping tips. I'm hoping to post a few great buys that I was able to snag this week tomorrow.

  7. When I see cereal cheap, I really stock up! We eat a lot of cereal here.
I need to get another fridge for outside in the garage though, so I can really use the space in the freezer for stocking up too!

  8. Good tips...
I love the pasta when it's on sale.
haven't seen .99 sale price...but I have seen 10/$10 $1 a bag. I try to get the biggest bag for the cheapest price per ounce.

Here is a tip for You.
I learned the best way to get the ground meat to go further-- when browning it. Use a potato masher...(mine is curvy, like a heating element--not the round one with the square holes) it makes the meat into really fine bits.
My family loves it since I began doing it that way!

    have a great weekend.

  9. Hai elaine...

Since its Chinese New Year..yepppp we got most of items here in Asia discounted...Foods,clothes, furnitures and etc...

    Love ur blog..

    Greeting from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

  10. I wood love to find pasta at even fifty cents here. It is usually one dollar. Great deal you found.

  11. I didn't know it was breakfast month but I have been getting some good deals on cereal. Seems like a lot of Cheerios coupons and sales. It isn't our very fave but for the price I won't pass it up.

I'm noticing some good sales on spring clothes lately. That's kind of fun. :)

Thanks for the heads up on good deals. :)

  12. I buy a lot of bulk grains, much cheaper than boxed cereals- steel cut oats, rolled oats, bulk granolas, much fresher than the boxed too...
